Just booked a trip to Rome via Venice for the Champions League final (though no tickets yet!) A four night trip flying to Venice and then train to the capital. If we fail to get tickets (fingers crossed will find out on the 15th) we will stay in Venice! Then the follwoing week we're off to Ayia Napa, Cyprus for 2 weeks

Gutted, I had a holiday booked in February 2010 for my big 40, a nice 5 star Hotel (thats the snob in me) in Kerela, India.

Had a phone call yesterday off Thomas Cook advising me that because of the current economical climate all flights to Kerela had been cancelled and they had stopped selling holidays there. I was offered £75 compensation and a change of venue to Kenya. Now call me old fashioned but if I had wanted Kenya I would have booked there, also the holiday offered had a brochure price of £450 less than we had paid for India and we had to fly from Gatwick and not our local airport. Mrs Thomas Cook said they could not give me a refund as they had offered me an alternative holiday and as I had declined it I was in breach of contract.....................surely Im not the one in the wrong here!! :( :?

Me thinks they're trying to pull a fast one here, I'd get them to put that in writing, you may find they'll change there tune. After all where could this end, you book a beach holiday and end up at a skiing resort :?

Hope you get an acceptable conclusion.

Been in the travel agents to sort out the earlier mentioned holiday cancelation. Decided to go in all guns blazin due to the feable offerings they made us earlier in the week

I have to say, and I dont admit this very often, the agent in the shop bent over backwards to help. A new holiday booked to South Goa, 5 star upgraded room, flights from B'ham and a £200 discount plus holiday vouchers to spend in the airport and on the plane to a value of £50. Good service after the initial dissapointment :D

Sounds like a 2k race strategy to me!

I agree though that the way to make the point with big organisations is to make it very personal for the man/woman as close to the top as can be achieved. I had a similar experience with BT Broadband which was a total nightmare and the "help" desk in India just about the antithesis of the name. I wrote to the Chairman, CEO, Sales Director and just about everybody else at the top. I sent mail to their office and home address (this is on the public record if you know where).

Result was a visit from a BT specialist who now only set the system up but cleaned the computers and gave me an upgraded router.

It always pays to go to the top.

Off to Portugal again on Tuesday, to Alvor in the Western Algarve.

I'm really looking forward to the break. I'm hoping that the erg they have on site is still operational and that I will be able to do a few metres each day.

Also looking forward to plenty of sun, nice restaurants and the occasional song (and pint) in the local karaoke bar.

Just booked a trip to Mustang from 1st october until 23rd october. Mustang is a former independent kingdom which now belongs to Nepal. It's situated at the chinese border and therefore was closed for western foreigners until 1992, so hopefully it isn't spoiled by mass tourism (yet). It looks like this:

A nepali friend of mine will guide us around, including 13 days of trekking between 2700m and 4350m above sea level. I really have to build up some stamina now...

Palma de Mallorca, aaaahhh.

We have desided to take an "All Inclusive" vacantion for the kids.

Our youngest kid is now almost 7 years old, and this will be her first plane-travel to remember. Our firstborn is almost 11, so it will be a great experience for her. :D We leave around the 15. of July. We haven't decided which hotel yet, but it looks like it will be a 3-4 star hotel at the eastcoast or north-east.

Happy holiday everybody

Some brochure pictures :D

Mr Chi.

Go to Puerto Pollensa, it's lovely. Really great place for kids and some lovely restaurants including a brilliant tapas on the front. Nice beach and a very very gradual falling away into the bay so the kids are very safe

Have to agree with the Gooner that Puerto Pollensa on the north cost of Majorca is great. (Is this the same island as Mallorca?)

That Mustang place looks stunning - very jealous!

Hi Gooner and Webberg

I'm sure you are right. But there wasn't a lot of options, if I should hold down the expences. Samoa Hotel on the (South)-East cost, with all included
Only 2.452 £ or 2.855 € for 2 adults and 2 kids (2-11 year) 8 nights and early arrive and late departure (so you feel you get something for you money)

Mallorca is origin spelling: "ll" is pronounced as "j", but we say it with both the ll and the "j" :? ! I believe the locals also spell it with the "ll" and say "j". :D
