What have you done with your kids lately?

Post by badocter »

I took my kids to see a stage performance of "Lazytown Live" yesterday - it was a lot of fun. As strange as it might sound, my kids watching the TV show it is based on is largely responsible for driving me to get back in shape. If you have young kids, I highly recommend the show:

Last week we went to the British Museum in London. They really got into it, but there was some confusion as to why there were so many mummies on display, but no daddies.

I'll bear the Lazytown Live in mind - my youngest loves it.
I'm a great fan of the British Museum as well - did you use the Explorer backpacks? They're great - and free. We've used the Greek & Egyptian ones so far.

I took my eldest to The Royal Greenwich Observatory recently - the planetarium shows are amazing & the displays in general excellent - very hands on. Split into astronomy themes & time themes. The RAF museum at Hendon is also worth a visit - fantastic size, again lots of hands on all round - but for me it's just getting up close to some of the aircraft. We had to go looking for the Vulcan - it was hidden at the back of one of the hangers - which gives an idea of scale!
48yo, weight... let's just say heavyweight & leave it at that.

My youngest met us at the Fitzwilliam Museum Cambridge when we escaped from our Center Parc holiday for a day last week !!!
he also guided his Mama to a very nice sports shop where she had her walking gait filmed and computerised and an explanation of whats wrong with her body as shown on the film resulting in a very nice new pair of trainers which his Dad paid for !!!

Bigsarge's reward for guiding us around and being a good son was a nice expensive lunch at Browns restaurant for him and his GF who has just finished her Cambridge finals

and as they are both Freespirits now I gave them puddings too !!!

Went to my 11yr old son's school production of West Side Story. He was one of the Sharks. All that practice of singing and dancing finally paid off. A bit awkward at that age but they did a great job. Son #2 last day of preschool was water play date with moms and dads. They turned on the water sprinklers on the grass area and we all ran around with the little ones throwing water balloons at us. Great fun!

Took eldest to have 4 teeth taken out. She was braver than me. She sat there as they stuck a needle in her hand then they doped her up and didn't even cry (bit shaky but no tears) me on the other hand as standing there shaking with tears in my eyes. 6' 1", 19st fat boy all over the place, didn't know what to do. Worse bit was when she went 'under', just kind off drifted off, eyes open - horrible.

I'll send Reet next time

Hope she's OK Pete. Grim.

Elizabeth had two ops when she was 1 and 18 months. The bit where they go floppy is horrendous. The waiting is worse.

I sympathise as I've been in the anaesthetic room twice with mine -when he was 9 mths having a spinal tap for meningitis and then the following year for a bloomin great lump that appeared in his neck

23 yrs later and 6 foot plus of his growing I still worry abt him !!! even tho he is fine & fit enough to be a Freespirit

Our just 9 y/o son and 7 2/3 y/o daughter and myself spend 4 hours total, 2h40min bicycling for 35.7km. The Mountain-Bay Trail leads through post-glacial landscape, along swamps, kames, glacial lakes, up a end moraine. Back with head wind (pretty bad), two falls: one as my daughter was drafting, and stupid me at fault: I hit the brakes  ](*,) without a warning!
Tough guys they are. No complaints. I am proud of them!

Well done. Sounds fun and a long way for such small ones.

I am hoping to get my 9 and 7 y/o daughters out on the river mtb trail here. Mum's bike can carry our 3yo but Mum's a bit nervous about all that upping and downing...
