BBC iPlayer

I was really pleased with the iPlayer (streaming) until recently. I now find that it pauses every few seconds.

This could be because the BBC server is swamped or my ISP is swamped?

Has anyone had this symptom?

Yes I have had this problem. Its probably your isp.
This problem lead me to do a check on my broadband ( http://speedcheck.ispconnect.co.uk/ ) which is supposed to be 8meg - the tests give variable results at different times of day but it was as low as 250k and never exceded 4 meg. I complained to toucan about it but they said the agreement is "up to" 8 meg so tough. All providers are supposedly the same. I do not accept this and will be changing when the contract runs out.

Yes, both links very interesting...

I get around 150 kbps on the tiscali speed test.

This is pretty annoying since I have always been very pleased with my ISP (eclipse). I will be taking it up with them.

Later:

I got 592.69 kilobits per second on st.tstools.co.uk/ (suggested by my service provider's help pages).

Taking it up with them and will report back.
