We are traveling through Ireland by coach (bus for any Americans reading), rather than this more exciting device.

Paul Victory posted an easy song, on the thread he originally started, and no one wants to name it. I gave everyone a fair chance.

Paul, "Your Song" by Elton John.
Only if you recognise the lyric :)

Well done Steve. :)

I am being a bit dim with regards to the ' Esso Blue ' reference, even though I'm ancient enough to remember the advert: Boom. Boom. Boom. Boom ... Esso Blue.

Seems it's too obscure then, final big clue... it's not a lyric within the song, but a comment at the end of the track

Hi Steve. Hope you're keeping well. Maybe if you quoted an actual lyric from the song, we might recognise it? Just a thought....

ok, sorry. I was having a bit of fun, but at the same time did think this was a quite well known bit of trivia.
At the end of ELO's 'Mr Blue Sky' album track (final track, side one) there is the line "please turn me over". They even use include it as part of their live set the past few years.
Jill inspired the choice by using 'Message in a bottle' by the Police. On that one there is a very long fade out with "sending out an SOS" repeated many times. The very final one of those, and the volume has to be turned right up, is "sending out an ESSO Blue". True.

Aha! Thanks for the explanation. I didn't want to appear as the idiot American by asking upthread what the heck you two were talking about! :)

I've never head of ESSO Blue, though I did a bit of Googling and it was apparently a very popular brand of kerosene (paraffin?) in the UK. So far as I know, kerosene around here has always been non-branded.

Thank you Steve, I never knew about that. :) This morning, as I was home alone, I played the track ( Police Greatest Hits ) and heard it on the second attempt with the volume control turned up to ( first attempt was 90 ) the highest it would go … 100. My ears are still ringing.🤪

Ron, there might be some idiot Americans out there but you are not one of them :) and, I very rarely know what I’m talking about.

To further your education on all things Esso Blue, I forgot to mention ‘ The Esso Blea Dooler ‘.

I think we may have had this recently, but I did not check.

In any event, it sounds like "25 or 6 to 4".

Ron, I do not think you should consider it the Americans' fault when we do not understand what the Brits are talking about. And, it is still much easier when they are writing rather than speaking! #-o [-X

Thanks Wolfie. I tried to search now, but apparently the words in the title are too common to search for. #-o So, we will assume that this was the first time for that tune. 8)

Next, something from my "formative years", i.e., old!

"When we arrived at the hop
We started in doin' the stroll
I told her I wanted to stop
But she wanted rock and roll"

I said that this was from my formative years. Upon further reflection, I am not sure how much I knew (or know) about women's fashions. Maybe my knowledge started and ended in 1959?

Part of the chorus, more of the chorus on Wednesday unless someone rescues me before then.

"Well you can take back the sack, leave it hangin' on the rack
And bring a sweater back!"

As Ron has noted, I do not like letting this thread lay dormant for more than 2 or 3 days. Unlike the Name That Film thread that has not had a post in 28 days.

So, as promised, here is the entire chorus:

"No chemise, please, not for me, please
Well you can take back the sack, leave it hangin' on the rack
And bring a sweater back!!"

It appears that no one here has heard No Chemise, Please. Oh well.

This one I am sure someone will (eventually, perhaps) recognize.

That'd be:

Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap - AC/DC

And I have to say, what the heck was that?
I listened to a bit of "No Chemise, Please", and had no recollection whatsoever of ever having heard it before... Made me smile a bit though.
