Meterboard and the C2 update

Where should the web site go - what should we do? Who has the time between rows?

Meterboard and the C2 update

Post by Thomas W-P »

C2 appear to have started their update to the log book.

I have no idea how this will affect the meterboard, but I do know that the meterboard gathers all its data from this page:
http://log.concept2.com/challenge/univD ... Spirits%22

Which has disappeared. :(

When the update is complete, we will see where we are and it is obviously my intention to try to get the meterboard up and running as soon as I can.

Thanks Thomas! The new C2 Log page is up and running and has a nice look. But, probably screws with our Meterboard. Good luck!

Kinda figured this might happen, since the email from C2 read as a total overhaul. I recall some wording about APIs to other web sites becoming available, down the road. Likely means we're shot for now? :(

There is a meterboard... approximation... I guess it's the new look for the old team page?

Definitely will miss ours! :(

It would be a great help if you could put in a link to that page. Thanks :)

Yes, thanks. Strangely that did not work at all for me this morning. I will not be able to look at the code for a while because of family commitments, but hope to have the meterboard working at least by the end of the weekend. It will just show nothing for the days we missed and then put all the new stuff in a lump.

You will notice that the new board from Concept2 only gives one score for metres, and does not differentiate between erg and water metres. I obviously cannot do anything about this since I scrape the page Plummie linked to above.

I think that the meterboard is working now. It took longer than I thought :( I would appreciate people confirming that it IS working or telling me that it isn't. Please comment below. Cheers.

Thanks Thomas. It seems to be working again and is showing the correct total for me, excluding the meters I entered a few minutes ago. Meters rowed today and total for the week are incorrect, but I expect this is because of the changeover.

Yes, it will take 7 days to settle down I think. Please let me know if your recent metres show up.

Thomas! You rock. I have no idea how that screen scraping thing works but I figured it would be way more involved. Nice Job =D>

And thank you!

Thanks.

I noticed that C2 changed the country codes for Switzerland and The Netherlands so those flags did not appear, but that is now fixed. It appears that the Swiss flag should be square too, so I fixed that as well.

Thanks! I love the meterboard and I am glad it is back up.

Did notice that my C2 profile picture is now lost. Can't see how to get it back. ???

Hi,

It looks like the meterboard is now giving credit for both indoor and OTW meters. I assume that is something that wants to be fixed. Although I can't say that I mind, it puts me in in 11th place!

As I say, there is nothing I can do about this as C2 only publish the combined metres now. If you can find a publicly available page that shows the OTE metres then I can fix it. Just post a link on this thread.

Assuming you mean on the meterboard individual page. I'd completely forgotten about that and will try to remember to take a look at it.

OMG, C2 have completely changed how they store the images. It could have been a simple fix but now not so much.

It is now something like:

http://media.concept2.com/assets/uploads/profiles/<<Concept 2 ID>>/square/<<stupid long random alphanumeric>>.jpg

for the tiny square image or, for the image on your profile,

http://media.concept2.com/assets/uploads/profiles/<<Concept 2 ID>>/medium/<<stupid long random alphanumeric>>.jpg

Which means I now have to grab that stupid long alphanumeric and stick in the database somewhere. Way way more complex #-o. At least the long alphanumeric is the same in both cases otherwise we would be stuck with the tiny square.

Hi Thomas, I had missed your comment about this before, sorry about that. Thanks for the quick fix to make the board work at all. I can understand why C2 wanted to make it mobile friendly, but it seems they could have rolled it out better than they did.

I think the C2 site is much nicer to look at, but I do wish they kept the OTE separate.
