Meterboard 2 - bugs and feature requests

Where should the web site go - what should we do? Who has the time between rows?

Hi Plummy

That was the issue. I clicked on the link as you suggested and it works fine now. Many thanks

After several days of waiting I still have not got the snowman ️ on the Meterboard although I completed 101k. Does the script need to be rerun?

It runs every 2 hours. It may be I guessed the URL of the board wrong. I won't be able to look at it for a couple of days though. Post here again of it or not working by 2018...

Hi Thomas,

I wanted to note that I do have a snowman beside my name (along with a bunch of others) but should have the double snowman (of which I see none).

Thanks,
Lee

I think this may be the victim of rowing growing. I believe from memory that I made the number of pages stop at 100 on the assumption that my code going in to an infinite loop was more likely than 100 pages of people who would complete a C2 challenge! I am still not at home so may not be able to fix this with available tools, but will take a look.

Code: Select all

if ($gotopage > 100) break; // safety valve, hope that there are not 100 pages
Found.

In other news, I initially realised that the extra pages is putting a large demand on the server which is bumping me up against the next tier of hosting - and much greater costs. I reduced the frequency of all updates from now. 4h for the honour boards, 2h for the main meterboard and 15 minutes for forced updates.

Time passed...

I then also worked out I can make it trawl just Free Spirits now which actually makes the load way less(!) (3 pages not 150+ to trawl) so put the times back to traditional!

I'm so glad you are on top of all this Thomas - I wouldn't have a clue how to maintain it. Thanks for your efforts again.

If you appear on this page then you should appear on the meter board...

https://log.concept2.com/affiliation/1397/season/2018

Are you there? I am not sure of your full name.

If you are not there, then maybe you didn't choose the right affiliation in your C2 profile, or there is a C2 problem.

Cheers

If you go for the Super Table option, there's a search function.

Dear Meterboard,

Thank you very much for being around and functioning! Special Thanks also to Thomas for keeping you healthy!

Without you I would lack the competition with others and myself for the daily average. My season goal of 7k is close thanks to you.

My apologies for confusing you one day by trying out a SkiErg, which turned out to be logged as well. Removing it again from my Concept2 log you acknowledged by giving me a great score for the day :-) (total meters - removed meters).

As we are an indoor rowing club I felt it was wrong to log meters that were not from the rowing machine; after all you tell us every day how many meter we free spirits have accumulated rowing for the season so far and how many days are left.

However, it turns out that you are fed with Concept2 log data that includes SkiErg, BikeErg and RowErg meters. This I found out while trying to understand how certain entries were possible.
There are many great Free Spirits that upload their great achievements once in a while; hence, leading to crazy daily scores, although some people really do ultra rows ;-)

If however people have daily scores that I dream of and then in between days with a multiple of those great scores it looks like those people are chained to a galley.
Fortunately it looks like they are free and just having a great fitness program including row, ski and bike.

For people like me that is however frustrating trying to compete with others on rowing meters for positions and then being mixed with multi discipline athletes. I guess it is frustrating or little motivating for them as well, unless they like as we say in Norway “steel candy from small kids”.

Therefore I would like to ask you my dear Meterboard what we can do to change your diet to pure rowing meters?!? Any idea? On the Concept2 log I see that on the Honour board one can filter, but if your interface does not enable it, we should ask Concept2 for support. After all we are one significant group off their users!

Best wishes from a Free Spirit Rower
&
See you later today!

They were supposed to give me access to the data by API - and I was in touch with the developer, but that went away.

If you can give me the URL of the page that is only erg meters I can start next year's meter board with that?

Which URL do you use at the moment?

I couldn't have picked a better time to return to the rower. So looking forward to next season now already. Great idea Tako and well done Thomas for finding such a quick solution.

I don't know if this is the place for confessions but my new Bike Erg was delivered yesterday so after assembly I promptly did 29,191 metres which have pulled through to the meter board. Not sure what to do about this but the least I can do is apologise to Plummy who was displaced on the metre board.
