Signature image generator - bug tracking and information
I made a Free Spirits signature generator - but if you make it you should be able to use the same code on any other forum (e.g. C2).
I intend to add features like a % comparison between PB and SB (on power or time), but pleased just to get it to this stage.
Please test and comment (working or not working). If you follow this link and try it you are DUTY BOUND to report good or bad in this thread... [-o< [-o<

29th October: I have completely rewritten the way it saves the data. Data will now follow you from browser to browser. It should remember the values on the FIRST browser you use, then convert them to the new way seamlessly.
3rd November: Now we have versions and we are at 0.7 which is the gold version. If there are no more bugs I'll move it to 1.0 in a while.
9th December: No bug reports for a while. I have added (to the test page here) the ability to highlight text by putting a * after it.

Re: Signature generator in beta
I keep getting logged out for no apparent reason and the generator keeps dropping entries so I only get most, not all. It worked once then stopped and the Save button didn't generate an image to copy/paste. That was on IE9.
If I log on to Chrome, everything is blank again.
I like the comparison idea - very good (it's something I have thought about doing a few times)

Re: Signature generator in beta
First attempt with the new sb v pb failed.
As Plummy reports, when I went back some of the data had been dropped at the top of the table. I reentered the data and this time the sb v pb calculated, but the signature did not capture it. It also logged me out. I made a 3rd attempt, but this time all the data had disappeared and I couldnt be bothered to do it again as all the figures are not committed to memory, so I would have to go to the hassle of looking them all up again.(sorry)

Re: Signature generator in beta
Chrome would be blank because the browser remembers the values, not the image. Let me know if it works in chrome. I think you have a very stuffed up ie9 and should reinstall it.

Re: Signature generator in beta
Colin - did you enter times for anything less than the mile?
If Stan is reporting the same issue - could they both be equally stuffed up?

Re: Signature generator in beta
Looks great Thomas - I had the same teething problems as Plummy where I kept getting logged out but it seems to be working now.

I can't explain that logging out at all. I ust read the cookie that controls your forum id, nothing more.
You need to use the tiny font option...

Re: Signature generator in beta
All boxes were ticked. It seems if you make a change, save it then make another change and save it again, the signature "code" vanishes
Also - why does "What" "500" & "1k" appear in my signature under Chrome when I haven't entered any values at all?

Re: Signature generator in beta
Just had another go, but as you can see its now changed all the values, the power % is all wrong and its erased the hm and fm times

Re: Signature generator in beta
Re-entered everything using Chrome only and my signature is kind of back - but it would not calculate a percentage between PB & SB. Leaving it alone now

Re: Signature generator in beta
Mine is exactly as entered. Is the power % an autocalc function or must we do it ourselves? If it's an auto function, it doesn't work for me. If it's self entered, I need to go back to school.
Edit - OK I accidently worked how the % function works. Click in the empty box in the % column and then click on the SB number next to it.

Initially worked - have seen now that I have Stan's signature , and he has nothing.
Have re-instated my old signature for now.

Re: Signature generator in beta
Looks like there is lots of fun and games so far...
I HAVE updated it so it doesn't self destruct on a different browser.
The % comes from the times/distances but they need to be in h:mm:ss.s format. So 6:57.2 sort of thing. And blatant stealing of other signatures... Hmmmm. I use your id number from the forum cookie to make the file name. So am really confused. If you could paste the url for the image here it might help me work out the problems.
It, of course, works for me perfectly, and there is always the chance that I was fiddling with the code when things went screwy. I suspect that there is a need to log in again though :/ And I don't know why! I may change the name of the file to something you choose...
Still in beta I guess. Please keep trying and feeding back.

Re: Signature generator in beta
I have noticed that the images are being cached by the browser. When I refresh the page they are updating. The one shown in the grey box on the sig gen page IS the one saved on the server (it is loaded in a different way - you'll notice a delay to give time for the new one to save), so if the new image does not show beneath a post in the forum please refresh your browser.
Thanks for your patience everyone. I think this will be awesome when (he said optimistically) it starts working.
