Colin, don't you realise it's not very friendly to climb above the challenge admin? At least you've given me a target for my attempt next week.

I'm not sure about that. Your very light and not too young. So I think maybe the formula could be to your advantage. It's worth a trychipmunkcheeks wrote:abbi would come in a big fat last!Shang-Chi wrote:Alan, have you tried to see what happens if you put Abbi´s distance in the men schedule

Well, it's better than being in a competition by herself.Mike Channin wrote:

Re: Weight & Age Adjusted Rowing Challenge - November 2012
Agreed, none of us want to see Abi with no one to compete against. I believe the metric for male to female performance comparison is wider in indoor rowing than most sports, because of its high reliance on raw power and lack of balancing mechanics. I think I saw 15-20% quoted as the performance adjustment - maybe Alan can engineer an extra column on the spreadsheet. (a more scientific method and in keeping with the age adjustment would be to work from male to female like-for-like world records).
But I definitely think you deserve an honourable foot-in-mouth award for the 'not too young' comment, mikkel!

Maybe Alan could engineer a whole new foot in mouth comment spreadsheet for us. I'm sure to do well in that one
60 yrs old, 82kg, 5' 10"
43Mm metres rowed. Re-setting the bar much lower now. Getting too old and brittle for this malarky

Hey, we never do mention a Lady's age. I believe I was very careful as I chose my words. She claims to be 46, but that doesn't necessarily means that it is so. I don't think this is a "foot-in-mouth award" worthy On the contrary.

I'll take a look into it. I certainly wouldn't want to discourage our ladies from taking part in these challenges.Mike Channin wrote:Agreed, none of us want to see Abi with no one to compete against. Thanks Paul/Jennifer. Straight in at #1:
With regards to a gender adjustment, I read the following thread and it makes me wonder if it is necessary, or if a gender adjustment is already kinda incorporated into the weight adjustment:
