Hopefully we could plan something similar to fit in with Den and Colin's time frame.
Thanks for your support Den.

I have to crawl off the erg and then get off to work shortly after. 8 hour shift beckons. Hope I can stay awake. :)

I don't know why, but with less than 2k to go, and trying to chase down Gary my connection to oarbits failed, bug..r

You can tell I'm a newbie to RowPro.
I waited until my my monitor got to 60 secs then I started to row.
The first thing that threw me was I couldn't get a true av/500m split, so I had to row on the stroke by stroke split.
A couple of mins in I looked at the projected finish time and it was 24:30
A while later I realized it was out by 1min #-o
Any way it all ended up with an SB of 23:16.5, (-12.5s), so I'm happy.
Thanks guys, I'm now going for a lie down in darkened room

Congratulations on the SB and welcome to the world of RP 8)

You can configure your PM appearance in several ways. By default you get a "race" display just like at BIRC etc, with the bottom half of the PM display replaced with one showing race positions. The top half is unchanged, so if you normally have your PM set to display average pace in the bottom left box of the top half, then that's what you'll see on RP. I suspect that you have it set to appear in the bottom half somewhere which is why you lost it.

Alternatively, you can have your normal PM display and just use your PC screen for the race positions etc. This is my preferred option.
To do this, open RP and then "Control Center" >> "User Settings". Uncheck the box that says "Display relative meters in the lower half of the PM3/PM4 during Online Rowing"

Colin and Lee,i think you miss understood what Roger was saying.
He was in the Handicap race and started 1min later than Gary,so his avarage split was wrong.(1min behind)
My average split was 3:41 after starting 4min late.(i had to watch the screen for my actual splits. :)

Jason, How about racing 2k or even 2500mts?
Reason I'm shying away from the 5k is that I am doing the Farnboro' 5k in 3 weeks time and really don't want to be pre-empting my time so close to the event. ie I'm planning on Pb'ing and getting under 20 mins on the day.
If I score well on the 2K (or 2.5k)then I know I'm close to achieving this but don't want to actually do a full on 5k before the big day. All mind games really. :)

Hope this makes sense. :?

Gary.
It makes perfect sence Gary, but the intervals in the IP Training are geared around getting a faster 5k and 6k time at the begining.
2x12min and 2x15min and 3x6min.Its that kind of training that you will need for a strong 5k.
A 2.5k or a 2k with me wont prove much for the 5k mate.

Yes, the intervals you mentioned are currently my staple training regime.
I was just trying to avoid racing a flat out 5k with you so close to the main event.

Thanks for explaining what my problem was with the handicap start Jason.
I now know what to expect the next time.

I'm also getting a new wireless router, which I hope will solve my internet drop out problems.

Hi Jason

I have to agree with Christine. Even if I had RowPro, I would not be able to do these sessions so early in the morning. My "vessel" is very rusty in the morning

Now it's summertime and I could go train in the middle of the night if I wanted to. 8) That I couldn't do before at the fitness center. BUT: Now I have my own key to the clubhouse, but they don't have RowPro. :( This is something I will have to talk to them about. Maybe they will back the idea up. [-o<
