Thanks for that Guys and Girls.Nice solid rows going on from everyone. 8)

Plummy,on my monitor you disapeared for 80% of the row then reapeared at about 1k left, that is probably why you cant get the splits. :?
Everybody has a plan until they get a punch in the face.

Plummy where is my mimosa?

Thanks all. I did PB on this row by 21.2 sec (largely because I had not previously TT this distance - look it off another row) but was slower than my 25min CTC pace by a couple of tenths and off the pace predictor by a bit more. Not sure if it was too early or too hot or just that I am getting over a bug, but not quite as fast as I wanted to be. I think I will have someone pace me on PB attempts....or have Dave set up Jane on Rowpro sometime.

Here are the results. the FS atendance was astonishing    :fswink:

Jason Hewitt 17:08.2 @1:42.8 :fswink: (he will always be one of us in my book)
Lee Winslow 17:32.8 @ 1:45.3
Larry Tait 18:11.5 @1:49.2
Steve Smith 18:32.5 @1:51.3
William Docter 18:34.6 @1:51.5R33  I was charging as hard as I could to try to close up with Steve, but not enough left
David Plumb 19:05.1 @ 1:54.5
William Wright 19:06.7 @ 1:54.7
Colin Bradley 19:12.3 @ 1:55.2
Denis Judd 19:22.0 @ 1:56.2
Jo Andrews 19:36.7 @ 1:57.7
Geoff Riley 20:27.9 @ 2:02
Rolf Reuther-Nielsen 20:33.8 @ 2:03.4
Leif Heide 20:46.5 @ 2:04.7
Christine Wojcik 21:34.1 @ 2:09.4

Regretably we lost Hywel Daies and Ross Nathan sometime during the session... seems unabvoidable to lose 1 or 2 in a session of 16, though that may be more an internet connect problem rather than rowpro....

My data is as follows. Went out conservative in the beginning and glad I did. At half way I wasn't sure I would make it to the end and had to fight the demons tooth and nail (I expect most of the participants can relate with that). Set a new SB by 12.4 seconds, which I am happy with, but my race plan was to negative split to sub 1:51 and was a tad short of that at 1:51.5R33. Next time =P~

dist pace SPM HREnd
0250m 1:53.6 32 165 feeling solid for the start, overpulled a couple 1:49's but otherwise ok
0500m 1:51.4 33 170
0750m 1:52.0 32 175
1000m 1:51.8 33 180
1250m 1:51.4 33 183
1500m 1:51.0 35 185 stroke rate getting a bit out of control, need to rein it in
1750m 1:51.2 33 186
2000m 1:51.8 33 186
2250m 1:51.6 33 186
2500m 1:51.8 31 188 only thing that made me believe I would make it to the end is that my HR was not yet 190 BPM
2750m 1:51.8 31 190 past half way before 190, so doing well despite hurting like h****
3000m 1:51.4 32 191
3250m 1:51.4 32 192
3500m 1:51.6 33 192
3750m 1:51.4 32 192
4000m 1:51.6 32 194
4250m 1:51.6 33 195
4500m 1:51.4 32 196 finally noticed how close I was to Steve
4750m 1:50.2 33 197 pushing harder
5000m 1:49.2 35 198 emptying the tanks ...gaaahhhhh

and here is the pretty graphs for the data junkies. Includes warmup and cooldown

That's a bit weird as I never lost track of the race goings on - other that your "avatar" who was pootling along without the oars moving when singled out in broadcast view.

I've had a look at my PM4 and it's all there but in 250m splits so I can't be bothered totting them up to sensible 500m lengths. Suffice to say the last 250m was at 1:46.2 and it was all at 28 SPM average.

Concentrated on keeping Bill Wright at least "in sight" and Den-J behind me - helped distract me from the pain (for some of the time)!

You mentioned that on the 30' as well. Not sure why mine is steeper than every one else's...am I reaching a higher % of my HR capacity sooner than others and maintaining it longer? My min and max HR are 57 and 202. Below is the %of reserve I was consuming various stages:
distance HRend %ofreserve
0250m 165 74.4%
1250m 183 86.9%
2500m 188 90.3%
3750m 192 93.1%
5000m 199 97.9%

I have read on a few threads on the C2 site that MaxHR derived fom erg tests tends to be low compared to streadmill or cycle tests on an individual, so maybe the 202 MaxHR is still 5 or so beats low compared to what I am capable of...that would certainly impact the EPOC calc. I reaaly do not want to do a treadmill test :~c

Evening all,

Well after the Rowpro internet failure I set out for a 5K set piece with a pace boat for company :-(

Set pace boat at 2:00/500 - bit lame I guess as only a year ago I could hold sub 2:00 for an hour every day... So the reset goal was to crack 20 mins for this 5K which I did manage with a time of:

19m 46.2 secs at 1:58.6 - so chuffed with that although tired now - 2K warm up and 2K down

Looking at the times I would have been in everyone's wash! Well done to you all =D>

Cheers

Richard

That has to be one of the best Row Pro sessions for me to date what with so many Free Spirits and all, great turn out thanks all.
That was also the first time I wanted to visit the floor after a row as it was that hard but as its a long way down on my model E I just slumped onto the slide instead. When I had recovered a bit the first message that I read on the screen was from Bill Wright saying that he had just beat me thanks for that Bill TBH the last 2k was horrible really horrible, but you have to go there to get a PB I guess.

The details

5K 19:12.3 (19:24.9) 1:55.2
1:57.5 r26 160 EHR
1:55.7 r27 165
1:54.1 r30 170
1:53.9 r31 167
1:55.0 r31 164

TE 4.1

Didn't mean to wind you up Colin I had a scare when I looked at my monitor and saw a heart rate of 186 when my maximum should be 158. I stopped dead and took a few strokes to get going again by which time Plummy had passed me and you were catching and had even passed me. With shouted encouragement from Trish I managed to pick up my game and throw in a few wild Gig strokes to get myself back in the game. Almost a blanket finish for the three of us.

I later reviewed to stats and discovered that I might have suffered form temporary dyslexia. The HR was 168!

I have now sussed out the Rowpro issue....

It appears that as the gap in my rowing has been fairly long Digital Rowing have turned off some of the version 2 software servers and as such I was not able to connect. So I have upgarded this evening to the latest Version 2 product (foc :D ) and am now able to get online and access the sessions...

So next time!

Boy all those times were very impressive - just looking at them again - I can feel the pain!

Hey Bill I didnt take it as a wind up honest but as I was completly wasted at the time it seemed like playful banter, I had no idea for most of the time where I was in the race only that Jo & Denis were close behind, I doubt I looked at the laptop in the last 2K so was pleased to find out that I caught you be it only briefly. I must say I think you had an unfair advantage namely Trish, one of the perks of a erging wife  Good race just wish I had known how close it was at the time, not that it would have made any difference today

Other way round Bill. The MHR is higher on an erg test because you are using more muscle mass (more muscle groups involved in rowing than running or cycling) and hence the total metabolic load and oxygen consumption is higher.

There are several possible explanations. The two that spring to mind are that your AT may be somewhat higher in the HR range than usual or that you may have a higher than "average" lactate tolerence. Or something else.
Not worth worrying about IMO. It's just that that curve would have had me puking bigtime

What great fun that was (depending on your perspective of course :D ).
A disaster row for me, I now know my cold is worse than I thought. Died after 1500m and just managed to hold off Bill D after a couple of short rests!
Still, the cold will go away eventually and I'll have my revenge on the rower.
Well done to all the PBers and SBers, RowPro is such a fantastic tool for inducing those.
As has been said before, great to see a full house and especially so many Free Spirits
Here's to next time ...

I did wonder how I managed to pass you Bill - and here's me thinking it was my amazing sprint finish!! No encouragement here - just the usual "havn't you finished yet?"
On reflection - a good close finish. Nice to be mixing it with the big boys!
