A very good session.
Paul Brandon 14577m @ 2:03.5
Ton Roulaux 14502m @ 2:04.1
William Docter 14472m @ 2:04.4 SB, +26 nonatlon points
Richard Youell 14293m @ 2:05.9
David Moores 14005m @ 2:08.5
Colin Bradley 13895m @ 2:09.5 recovery row
Raun Austin 13890m @ 2:09.6
Everybody pretty much knows everybody else and can recognize who is doing recovery work Colin, just like I was yesterday and you were today. Actually puts more pressure on those racing since the racers know the recovery guys are keeping track of the racers progress to pass the time.
For my part I stuck to my race plan which was to hold 2:06 to the halfway point and then negative split from there. I had to resist the urge to keep pace with Ton and Richard who both seemed to be aiming at 2:05's - I stuck to my plan like glue. At the 30' mark I dropped the pace to 2:05 which felt hard but doable. With 12 minutes to go, dropped to a 2:03 ( I think this is when I overtook Richard who appeared to be struggling) , 2:01 with 9 minutes to go, and finally sub 2:00 with 3 minutes go. The last 250m was all sub 1:50, and the last 100m at 1:42 finishing very strong, so should be able to trim the pace down on the next go. For the moment, I am going to use the prorated pace for this session to enter for the 10k CTC, but will do a proper 10k test next weekend.
We lost Neils (internet connection problem for him perhaps) before the session and lost Peter at the start (RP problem). Both of them regrouped 10 minutes later and did a 10k Q together, so fair play to them. Just a fact of life with RP that there are start problems, and on the big sessions we are lucky if we don't drop at least 1 or 2 at the start.
