Oh god ... more pain on a Friday night! Last week I prepared perfectly; easy sessions a couple of days before and no trip to the pub Friday lunchtime - result was I bombed. This week I'm going to have some fun and just turn up with 2 minutes to go :D

I suspect your bomb is my success! I have not thought about pacing yet, but it will probably be something like 1:49.9 (given my sub 7 2k the other day).

Well, I reconnected and off we went. Jonny L, Huw Thomas and me.

I aimed for a 1:49.9 split, but knew that this was optimistic. I hung in for 5 minutes at this pace, then couldn't maintain it and fell back. Meanwhile the other two were pushing off in to the distance. I then hung on for the next 2,000 or so, with the split slipping back. I was holding on with a heart rate around 180, waiting for 3:30 to go when I knew that I could push on. I was hoping that I could drag the split back down below 1:50, but it was not to be. I took 30m out of Huw though ;)

Good race. I would have stopped at ten minutes without those boys. So thanks to them for towing me home: 4,424m @ 1:50.7
