5K Saturday at High Noon**completed**
I'll be doing something Saturday & Sunday some time between 11 & 15:00. Anybody got any plans or ideas for setting something up.
I see there's an hour for Sunday at 13:00 which I'll join if I don't get a better offer.

Re: something for the weekend
Great timing Colin, I'm was just about to go upstairs and have a go at a sub 19 5K, I'll put it on hold. What's your preference on day and time?
All the best for the Mrs, Den. Make sure you bully her if she slacks on the physio, I've seen the difference between somebody who was obsessive over it and people took it to be optional, there is a marked difference.

Re: 5K Saturday at High Noon
Ok, I'm in, as a practice today I did a 5K warm up, the target was to keep as close to 2:06 pace as possible..
and then followed that up with 4K at 1:55 pace, thats when it all went horribly wrong and I handled down after 1200M I'm not as confident as I was.
Code: Select all
1 2:06.0 1,000
2 2:06.0 1,000
3 2:05.9 1,000
4 2:06.0 1,000
5 2:06.0 1,000
t 2:06.0 5,000

Re: 5K Saturday at High Noon
Reading your last couple of posts Dave it sounds like you are going through what happened to me after our 6k pb's I felt ok in myself but there was just nothing in the tank I dropped my meterage by about half for the next 2 weeks and had a couple of rest days each week as well...you saw my 10k this week so it works. the 2k pb last week probably took you over the edge listen to your body m8...have a rest

Re: 5K Saturday at High Noon
Thanks Den
I'll have a day off today and will of course be on the infernal machine at noon tomorrow. I'll have no plans on pace, I think a PB is out of the question now, I'll be watching Mr Bradley's pace VERY closely

Re: 5K Saturday at High Noon
Oh Sugar I was hoping for a nice tow along for 4500m or so
Dave dont overdo it if your not 100% just have a paddle like I did last Saturday theres always another time, rests are good they make you stronger in the long run.

Re: 5K Saturday at High Noon
Hi Denis thats very good of you, cheers
hopefully I would like to neg split with the first 1000m @2:00.0 then cut each 1000m by 10 seconds upto a max HR of 165 till 500m to go then let rip for the line. BUT if you go off faster say 1:58.0 I will probably go with you till I hit the 165 HR then as above hopefully, well thats the plan hopefully.
PS hows the good lady
Colin

Re: 5K Saturday at High Noon
I don't think you have that pacing quite right m8 that would be 1000@ 2:00 2000 @1:55 3000 @1:50 at which point you would be on your own cos I could not go any faster than that!
My wife is pissed off totaly m8 we went through to the hospital and they found a slight infection on one of her toes and canceled the operation until it is cleared up ...too risky
oh and ..Happy birthday

Re: 5K Saturday at High Noon
There was a Robert Bell who was way ahead for most of the race then must have dropped his connection (darn ). Desperate last minute thing to get on board as I couldn't get the flaming laptop to connect to Oarbits. Managed it with about 2 minutes to spare. Warm up was a bit brief as a result.kingy2 wrote:1 David Plumb ___19:03.3 __5,000m 1:54.3

Thanks for the row guys and gal - helped build a bit of confidence that I've not lost all my pace. I thought my pb was 18:19 (I hadn't checked as I wasn't attempting one) but when I checked after it is actually 18:39 so 19.03 is pretty pleasing.

Re: 5K Saturday at High Noon**completed**
Well I dont know what happened there, just as I started on ROW and took my first look at the Row Pro screen there were no boats on the screen at all, only the right hand info and an empty race course so I carried on a bit then I thinks this is daft so handled down and set up a session with a pace boat set at 1:59.0
result a PB of 0:28.6secs to 19:29.4 1:56.9 r28 Max HR 175 (my highest yet) needless to say I didnt see much of the pace boat sorry to Dave & Denis I was really looking forward to this one, but hay the PB was good

Shame about that Colin, I again had nothing in the tank today but would have been interesting to see if you'd have dragged me along.
Congrats on a great PB =D> =D> =D>
