I might be interested in joining this session but never having rowed online against others before I need a few pointers to help me join the session. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. :?

Not much too it. In the Rowpro "Control Center" dialog, select the"Oarbits" and select session list. Tick the box of the sessions you want to register for (you can do this days in advance or wait to the last minute), and then at 15 minutes before the event you go to "Session Setup" and select online - the session you registered for will appear in the list -- select it and hit the "Row" button will take you to the online chat to await the race start. It is a good idea to even create few dummy sessions of your own to test out how things work (Control Center->Oarbits->Session Studio). Hope to see you there.

Note there have been some bugs in the past and sometimes people have gotten droppped from a race...its not perfect, but most of the time it works...

My upper back still isn't right so giving OTW a miss Thursday, so will be joining this (Sorry Plummy)
Not sure how hard I'll row this, depends how I feel before the row but it should be pretty fast .

Btw can everyone check there using version 2.3 of Rowpro (if it hasn't been said already)

We have 5 registered at this point so looking good. I have upgraded to 2.3, but have not done an online session with it -- hope it works tonight. [-o<

I haven't used 2.3 on-line either but I think it's a much safer beat then one of the betas

Seeing as it's an hour row, if we see anyone stuck on the line, all 4 /3 left in the row should probably quit around the 100m mark - then we can create a quick race which will hopefully work for all . What do people think ?

Yeah, if we lose anybody at the start we regroup and try again, however, if it dies after more than 1k I am not going to stop. The other bit is since it is afixed time session, we can't do it as a QR -- we will have to create another SR and quickly register.

I've just looked and I'm still on version 2.0 - does that mean I can't take part? =P~

I think you need to be at least 2.2 (I'm not even sure you can still register for a race with 2.0), so I would suggest you bite the bullet and update to 2.3. Still time to download and install it if you have broadband:

See you a little over an hour.

Damn - it appears to work - looks like I may be joining you after all (although I usually cock up joining the race).

I'll be setting off just over 2:00 pace and hopefully winding it up slowly as the hour progresses - 15032m to beat for a seasons best

Got version 2.3 downloaded and was all set up - or so I thought - as Rowpro then said my firmware was too old. Had to go online and download a whole new set of firmware for the PM4 before I started.

Anyways - it actually all loaded in time and I was ready on the line - amazing for me

Rubbish row though - 14708m - two handle downs (I knew after 10 minutes a seasons best wasn't on and I was struggling at 30 minutes to hold 1:59 pace so stopped - then decided it was better to finish the time whatever the pace and crept the pace back up again until about 15 minutes to go then repeated the same routine of stopping and starting again

John G was a country mile (literally) ahead and I just managed to keep Bill Doctor within a km ahead

Woo hooo! New PB of 15695m (1:54.7) for a 543m improvement \:D/

Having Plummy and John there sure helped me push through the final 1/3 and found I still had a fair sprint at the finish. Next race is Jef's 5k on sunday

Nice row, Bill. 16k looms ever closer. The time difference is too great for me on the week days but if you guys want to do some long rowpros on the weekends I'll maybe plunk for the hundred bucks and start coming out.

Very steady row from Bill, he stuck to his plan like glue very impressive .

With myself I was feeling tired beforehand, decided to go out hard then take it easy . The hard pace lasted till 15-20 mins in then I took it down a gear or 2 for the rest of the row .
I REALLY hate long distance rows (rear end really sore the last 10-15 mins (been fat has some advantages )), very glad I completed though .
16,617 (1:48.3) 25SPM
Technically my second fastest 60min

Thanks all, I would have probably given up if by myself

Thanks for all the support guys. :fswink:

John,
I think it is glute fatigue rather than sitting on the bum that is the source of the pain. Even on a 20x100m rest 80" sprints where the total time on the erg is 5 or 6 minutes the glutes hurt the same way.

Kirby,
There is usually some rowpro race going on on the weekends--if not, just set one up, preferably several days in advance and advertise it here and the C2 forum and somebody is bound to jump in. Its got a 20 day free trial - I'm sure you'll be hooked by the end of that.
