BIRC 2006

Post by Mike Channin »

12th November, Birmingham

Are any of you Free Spirits intending to attend/race?
And can we have some team kit sorted by then? (the rowing ghost gets my vote!)

I'm thinking of going to the BIRC in addition to the IIRC .

Does anyone know what time the Male Open Hwts generally go at ?, sort of an early limit and a late limit.

I haven't been able to find it and need to know to find out which flights to book.

Thanks

(edit)

I googled a bit and found there is a Direct train link from The NEC to Birmingham International Airport

According to the latest info on the C2 Website, the order of event puts the Open race at no. 3 in a list of 6. The first races kick off at 8:30am, and the last event, is estimated, will be around 7pm.
C2 cannot give definitive times of course until the final total entries is known.
At this time there are 168 entries confirmed.

The link between airport & NEC is a small skyrail-link. It is free and takes approx 2 minutes from point to point.

Looking forward to seeing a few of the FS gang on the day and possibly go for a bite\drink after the event.

John

Nice one :D

Hopefully I'll meet my counterpart "Bangers" at BIRC...what a team.

Sorry about the multiple replies, seems I had a small problem posting and ended up sending 4...better safe than sorry!

To John and anybody else going to the BIRC
Whatever you do don't go to the NEC, cos there will be no C2's there. The BIRC is held at the National Indoor Arena ie The NIA.
I think there is an exhibition of ladies lingerie at the NEC that day, so second thoughts I might go there instead.

By the way I'm changing my login name to Darby. I've checked we don't have a Joan in the team at the moment

Bangers..LOL!!

Further to the info about the NEC\NIA.

People arriving at the NEC should be looking for any train travelling to Birmingham New Street. The journey takes approx 10-15 mins and it is a 10min walk from Birmingham New Street to the NIA.

The trains run quite frequently but check out http://www.thetrainline.com and ask for times between "Birmingham International" and "Birmingham New Street", there are the local CENTRO trains and the Virgin variety. Try for the Virgin train as this doesn't stop at all the local stations in between.

Thanks again Bangers and Mash, or should I say Darby and Joan? :D, or Roger and Mark . Great information, I think I will get one of those trains.
