Wouldn't that mean there are almost no 2 continents away

I.e.

Europe - Direct flight to N America, S America, Asia, Africa . Over another just to the Australian continent . Antarctica doesn't count as it doesn't have a permanent population .

North America, South America, Asia - Direct to everywhere

Australian continent - Direct to everywhere but Europe

Note I think the bonus points for very long distances is a great idea, I just don't understand the difference between 1 continent away and 2 continents away

Not wanting to throw a spanner into the works when your working out your points but Nick and I live in the most isolated capital city in the world! Not talking about just countries either, state or provincial capitals as well. Our distance from other captial cities in Australia is further than anywhere else as well, Sydney is a 5 hour flight

Anyone making the effort to come to Perth should definately get double points.

This is my take on the whole thing (and only my opinion, not saying it's right) – sure there will be a few more examples I’ve missed but if your not sure how many points you should get just ask others in this thread

UK Based
1 point - Within UK (ie – Eng. – Scot., Scot. – Wales, Northern Ireland – England etc)
2 points - Within Europe (ie – England – France, Northern Ireland – Southern Ireland)
5 points - Long haul flight across the Atlantic USA, Canada
10 points - The other side of the world

Europe based
2 points for ‘internal trips’(France – Spain, Norway – Sweden, Sweden UK)
5 points - across the pond
10 points - the other side of the world

USA based
1 point if neighbouring state
2 points any other state
5 points - if you cross the pond
10 points - drop down to OZ and neighbouring countries down there

OZ based
1 point if neighbouring state
2 points any other state
10 points Europe, US

1 bonus point for away trips

Now I know some counties are a lot bigger than others and a trip to the neighbouring state can take days but bottom line is it is only the next state. All move to England it’s nice and small and cosy

I’m sure I’ve missed something out. Just want to try and keep this as simple as possible

So my up coming trip to Boston will bag me 6 points and bag Pete 5 points for example.
When we met John in London he bagged 3 points per person (result) but we all only got 2 points

I think this game takes on the mantle of Mornington Crescent - a very famous game on the radio here whose rules are famously "obvious".

With that, it becomes clear that the Canadian-US border scores 1 point under the South-North "Kanuk" ruling.

I reckon on bonus points for the cold wet snow. Then there are the additional points for Ann rowing after the consumption of a quantity of good quality Canadian booze.

The weekend was fabulous; the friendship is solid; and we did not upset international detente.

p.s. points go both ways in North America.

I gave Peter a fantastic birthday party and our "virtual friends", now good friends thanks to Free Spirits, came to enjoy the festivities this past weekend.
Dave also cleaned and vacuumed both model C and D machines in our home, he also fixed my washer and dryer.
Unfortunately, Dave has a problem with his elbow and can not row but Gaye did her row at our home and is challenging the guys daily on the board.
That is the lastest update.

I claim a point (non-border crossing) for meeting DragFactor (Steve) this evening.

A bit of a cheat really since he is only 4 miles away. It turns out our children go to the same pre-school and post-school and his wife and I vaguely recognised each other from various picking up children moments. Small World.

Steve need not have worried about his technique - we had a good chat, and he is going to work at his power graph

Another point today - driving through the town where I work and to my shock I see someone proudly wearing a Free Spirits T-shirt!

I screech to a halt and meet richardp!

Two minute conversation then back in the car. No photographic evidence.

He says he has not done much rowing - all cycling in the summer.

Oh my how this little game has moved on
Re-reading brought a smile, so I thought I'd ressurect it.
A few years later and there are many overseas visits to report.
Madchester being the pinical, as there is no "race" meeting as such.
Paul Vicorty and Mr & Mrs Wolfie met in Alvor, Portugal last month for a lovely evening. We need a new scoring system for both parties meeting outside of their own country!

Loads and loads of us have met now, and that can only be a good thing.... what a community this has developed in to.

I can't figure the rules so I'm pretty sure it's 1000 points for me and Zoot, 5000 for our respective spouses who willingly listen to erg talk, and 10,000 to Mr Plumb for making the big journey.
