Did just under 22k today to get past the 4MM barrier.

I've been somewhat becalmed recently, but I feel a following wind building up.

Thanks Alistair and J-R

Had a funny session tonight in the gym.

They are currently extending the gym and the ergs have been moved to a new area where they are placed on shiny wooden floors.

The only functioning Model D hasn't been serviced in ages and has DF125 at damper setting 10. I set teh erg to 60 minutes and starter off at around 1:57 pace. After about 12 minutes I found I was being kicked from behind and discovered that the erg was resting against a cross trainer.

I stopped, moved it forward and tried again. Same result! I did just over over 10k in four separate sessions and moved back about five feet each time.

I think I'll stick to my trusty Model E at home until they get their act sorted out in the gym. :P

On the positive side, I averaged 1:57.2 pace over the 10k. On the negative side, my knees are now quite sore so I think I'll try using a higher damper setting at home and let my back take the stress instead of my knees.

Life's been good to me so far

Post by commodoreann »

All I can say is this.

No, really Joe Walsh wrote this :

Lyrics for: Life's Been Good

I have a mansion forget the price
Ain't never been there they tell me it's nice
I live in hotels tear out the walls
I have accountants pay for it all

They say I'm crazy but I have a good time
(Everybody say oh, yeah.....OH,YEAH)
I'm just looking for clues at the scene of the crime
Life's been good to me so far

My Maserati does 185
I lost my license now I don't drive
I have a limo ride in the back
I lock the doors in case I'm attacked

I make hit records, my fans they can't wait
They write me letters tell me I'm great
So I got me an office, gold records on the wall
Just leave a message maybe I'll call

Lucky I'm sane after all I've been through
Everybody says I'm cool (He's cool)
I can't complain but sometimes I still do
Life's been good to me so far

I go to parties sometimes until four
It's hard to leave when you can't find the door
It's tough to handle this fortune and fame
Everybody's so different I haven't changed

They say I'm lazy but it takes all my time
Everybody says Oh yeah (Oh yeah)
I keep on going guess I'll never know why
Life's been good to me so far

Actually, when my husband Peter retired, this was his theme song and I will use it as well.

I arrange my days around the row. My Doctor said I'm addicted but he also said, if you have to be addicted to some thing, this is not so bad!

Took off today to race our sailboat today but I'll be back rowing tomorrow. 8)
Keep on rowing, keep on rowing, keep on rowing..life's been good so far.

Made my 10 million lifetime metres this morning - took me 2 years and 46 days - average 12853m per day.
Did log about 3.3 million metres in a previous life but not on-line so will have to settle for the 10 m illion being my official lifetime metreage.

Thanks Dave - you can't be too far behind me - especially if you knock off the occasional 100k piece :) - BTW, when are you doing a 200k session?

Wow thats some going in such a short time Paul - great dedication to the cause! Nice one and congratulations on the achievement!

Brilliant!

One question - same as you I also rowed some decent distance back in 2001/2 - and the spreadsheet records were sent to Concept 2 for the distance award - so even though these were not online do they not count as such to lifetime metres? You're probably at 20MM Paul eh!

Well done on the lifetime metres!

Mr Gould - 200k! something like when hell freezes over, did look at the 24hr records and considered if for the briefest of seconds

I've got aound 1.5m to go to get to 10m so a little while yet, but hopefully before the end of this season

Thanks Wolfie,Richard

Richard - I submitted my log record in 2002(on paper) after completing my first logged million and received the t-shirt.Those metres were recorded in the UK whereas my recent 10 million were recorded in SA so they probably think it is not the same person.
I carried on recording my workouts up to mid-2003(when I stopped erging) at which point I had about 3.3 million metres - unfortunately in the move back to South Africa my logbook went missing so I don't have exact details of my erging in that time - I am planning to return to the UK next year and then I will apply for all the distance awards up to the 10 million.

Happy rowing

Congrats, Mr. IronArse, very impressed by that average. I figure if a person can erg for an hour, he must be very healthy. So if I can erg for an hour a day for the rest of my life, I'll actually never die. I mean, say I'm 99 years old and I wake up, have my morning coffee and oatmeal and then bang out my 7k or whatever I do in an hour, well I'm not gonna die that day because I'm too healthy right? Keep doing it and live forever. :P
