Re: September ctc - 12 min., free stoke rate
A very rare second go at a CTC for me as I felt it massively disappointing that I couldn't even get to 2:00 pace for 12 mins on my last attempt (given I once did a HM at that pace). Anyhoo - managed to just squeeze over 3000m to 3004 which was 1:59.8 pace. Wasn't a nice experience at all.

Darn! I had the first boat for about 15 minutes. Ironically, I noticed your weak first try and I thought “This is my chance to beat Dave”.plummy wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 5:31 pm A very rare second go at a CTC for me as I felt it massively disappointing that I couldn't even get to 2:00 pace for 12 mins on my last attempt (given I once did a HM at that pace). That was tougher than I wanted it to be, just under 3200m, wanted a bit more, but will take it after BRVC at the weekend. The last 2 minutes felt horrible!

Still nursing a bad back, so doing exactly what I ought not to be doing and sitting on the ergo to complete things like this and IRL
Limped over with 3055. I'll pay the price tomorrow.

It's really quiet here. So many good results. I am in an inter-base period and was going to skip this months challenge. But I saw FS Boat 6 last night with one person missing. I wanted to fill that gap. Just a very light paddle. On the evening of the last day in September.

Thanks Paul, I've been a big Tolkien fan since I was 5 years old. I've always loved fantasy stories. And my favourites are these characters who embody power and wisdom, like Gandalf or Yoda... who is that in Greek mythology? You are your own myth !Paul Victory wrote: ↑Fri Oct 01, 2021 10:28 am Yes, thanks for doing that Claudius and I love the Gandalf quote in your signature.

Nice one Claudius - I was waiting for you to step into Boat 1, but understand the circumstances, and its really good to see you floating that extra boat for us
53, 6'2" and trying to get back to 95kg post hip replacement. Looking back fondly on past achievements I've no chance of repeating

Great stuff Claudius - great team thinking to float that extra boat.
Gotta love the super-low HR too - did you fall asleep??
And it's a great Tolkien quote, as everyone says. Think that's when he meets Frodo at Bag End.
Finishes this 'quest' on a lovely high note...
