Indoor Rowers League 2021-22
Much to my surprise the Indoor Rowers League is running again this season. Last year I spotted this very late and we scrambled a team together with some people missing out on the opportunity to join. At least we have a couple of weeks to get organised and the whole of September to log initial results.
I am happy to submit a team, but I need to know if we have enough people interested. Ideally you will join in if you are willing to put in a result for the 8 months that the competition runs for. There is always the risk that people get ill or injured, but ideally if you are fit you will compete. We had some heroic efforts last year by people who were struggling with fitness or form but still put in a result for the team
The events range from 1 minute to 10K. I tend to put out reminders each month so that the events don't slip people's minds. The league allocates scores weighted on gender, weight and age so everyone is welcome and all scores help us. Teams are limited to 10 people. We did enter two teams a couple of years back, which is always a possibility if we have a lot of interest.
I can't for the life of me remember how to create a team and join it. I can see the team from last year has been carried forward, but has last year's members in it. But the first priority is to see whether we can muster a team. So, who's interested?

Hi Jon
Thanks for finding this. I have been a bit hit and miss with the Indoor Rowing League the last couple of years and not part of the team before, but a lot more focused on rowing now so I would definitely be interested to be part of it

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2021-22
This might be the motivation I need to get me back in the saddle. But I don’t know at this stage if I will be able to commit to putting in an effort every month. I’m happy to be part of a team if we have a space that needs filling, but also happy not to be on the team if we have ten others willing to take part.

Hi Jon, and thanks for highlighting this
It does look as if I'll be spending more time on the erg this year than I've done in recent years, so please count me in
Thanks again

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2021-22
I was thinking about this last night that we are a bit "last minute" again and don't appear to have made a decision as to if we are in and if so who is in. If we need another, I'll throw my hat in the ring.
So we have:
Philip Price
Peter Weiss
Kevin Horner
Roger Burrell (offer if stuck for numbers)
Mat Leonard
Louise Allcock
Carole and Peter Sergeant
Jon Taylor
Chris Newberry
Paul Victory (offer if stuck for numbers)
Dave Plumb (offer if stuck for numbers)
Certainly enough for one team but someone's got to step aside - well, two actually...?

Happy to add in if we can make a second team, but looks unlikely.

Two teams would be fun. For anyone not familiar with it, the scoring system adjusts for age, gender, and weight category (much like the nonathlon) so it’s a level playing field for all. Louise

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2021-22
I have asked Sebastien (who runs the league) to clear out the original Free Spirits team in the competition. We can then go back to using that. The event has started now, but we still have until then end of the month to register team members and for people to register a distance for the 4 minute event.
I agree that two teams would be great, but it feels unlikely. So, as Plummy points out, we now have too many people to make up a team. With Iain included we have 12 people for a 10 person crew.
The three people who offered "if team members needed" are Plummy, Paul V. and Roger. Could you agree between yourselves and let us know gents?
I will post here again when we have a team that we can all join. Meanwhile, you can still row the 4 minutes so that you have a distance to enter when we are organised.

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2021-22
It may be best for our team if Pete Sergeant and I donate our places to the others as I am really very slow and Pete is struggling to find much time as we've hit some snags with selling Mums property in Wales
So we wish you 10 lots of luck xx

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2021-22
Thanks to all who have offered to participate. I have worked with Sebastian and the Free Spirits team is cleared out and ready to go. Just log in to IRL, select “Your Profile” and then select “Free Spirits” as you 8 on 8 team name. You need to do this, and enter a result(!) before the end of the month.
I think we are now in the following state:
Philip Price
Peter Weiss
Kevin Horner
Mat Leonard
Louise Allcock
Jon Taylor
Iain
Chris Newberry
Paul Victory (offer if stuck for numbers)
Dave Plumb (offer if stuck for numbers)
Roger Burrell (offer if stuck for numbers)
Could Paul, Plummy and Rodger agree who will not participate? I know Rodger has offered again, but I don’t feel it is my place to make a decision.
Now it’s time to do less organising and more rowing

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2021-22
As I'm doing a little less rowing I'd like to think I'd be a bit fresher per session and by default maybe a tad quicker (?!). I've no recurring injuries that might put me out of action so if the other gents are happy to step back, I'll step forward.

Thanks Plummy, I’m glad you’re in. So we just need an agreement between Paul or Roger. Everyone else can register and row.

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2021-22
Just a quick question...
Is it usual for there to be a delay between uploading results and seeing them appear on the rankings? I've input my result a couple of times this morning but it still doesn't show. I did have problems registering initially (seemed to go through but then didn't let me sign in so had to create a new profile again), so perhaps the site is a little slow? Or perhaps its me

It normally shows up straight away Mat. You also don;t seem to be recorded as a member of the team at the moment. What name have you used when you registered?Mat wrote: ↑Thu Sep 09, 2021 7:08 am Just a quick question...

Thanks Jon
I've gone back in following your message and updated my profile (just resubmitted the same info) and that seems to have righted it - result entered now too and shows on the rankings
Thanks again
