Extreme Ergo Chess

Post by Thomas W-P »

Well, MaxDev has shown us that an ergo can be carried in a backpack. And he is also a bit of a chess nut.

There is also a big debate about whether Chess is a sport or not.

Now, how about extreme chess then?

You do a rowing bleep test and play a chess move every 10 strokes.

What do you reckon MaxDev? How well do you play in oxygen debt?

Chess while erging... if only I could arrange it.

When I was younger, I frequently used to play games blindfold (and in some cases, blind drunk!) against people who weren't competitive players, without any trouble, but I've never tried while in the middle of doing exercise.

For a good player, especially when playing someone less good, a lot of move-selection in chess is done by instinct (which comes mostly from memory of similar positions seen previously), not calculation, so maybe it wouldn't be too difficult.

Only one way to find out...

How about blind chess (you against 2-3 imaginative players, all of them just in your head) while doing a 2xFM in the dark, with a helper getting you of the erg only when you are done? Must be agonizing, pulling hard, and not knowing the end, and fighting in your head at the same time.
