A good old-fashioned 6k has been set by Team Oarsome.

Just kicked off the month with steady 6k to get a time on the board

6k - 22:32.2, 1:52.6, 24

I'm sure there'll be a bit more sweat to come later in the month but its nice to get a score posted

Good luck to all

New 6k PB by 25s
23:22.4
Struggled mentally in the middle section but a nice sprint right at the end.
Think there might be a bit more to come on this one :-)

Well done Crushy, thats a great time ^O^ ^O^
Looking at your 5k PB, I would say there is a lot more to come for you on the 6k, not to mention the 30min and 10k.

Paul -That 5k was a good few months ago and I'm not quite back to that level. That 5k makes all my other times look bad ;-(

Put in my one and only effort for this one today. Looking at my PB and SB I had a feeling this would improve on one if not both.

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about pace and mind v body lately and wanted to put it into practice. So the plan was to relish the start and push hard but aim to be around PB pace (1:59.8) by 250m and stay there until 1k to go. Ignore the voices saying this feels like a breeze (answer - trust me you will thank me later) and then ignore the voices saying this all too hard (answer - trust me it won’t hurt any more than this until the final push). Then with 1k to go slowly turn the screw until flat out with 150m to go.

It all went to plan for a change. PB by 27 seconds.

Great PB Jon. Nice work.
I've started using something a good coach said to help on the ones where you have time to think.

Go off at your chosen pace.
When you get to 40% distance, if you are unsure if you will be able to finish, you've got it about right.
Obviously if you know that either you won't be able to or will finish easilly then you need to adjust.

Seems to work so far.

That was ugly, but a boat is afloat. Haven't rowed 6000 nonstop in 2 years and it was very apparent  . The good news is I didn't puke.

As promised in my return from surgery I present a slow 6K done a few days ago. The best I can say is it floated a boat.

By taking things steadily, Lesley, you’re giving yourself the best chance of a sustained recovery.
It won’t be too long before you go steaming past :!:
Keep up the slow and sensible road to getting the best out of yourself.
Wishing you all the best.

Well spotted, Mr Wolf. Great to see you rowing so well these days - has helped inspire me to try to contribute to the CTC again!
Great to see you posting too Philip!! Seems such a long time since we met at BIRC now!

Hi Mike
Welcome back :!: It was a question of meeting the right man at the right place at the right time. You persuaded me to join Free Spirits when I had come very late in life to rowing. It was the right club. Glad I followed your advice. Hazel persuaded me too :!:
All the best,
Pepe

Did my second row of the month today. Having done my slowest ever 10k on Friday, I followed with my slowest ever 6k today - 27:19.9 @ 2:16.6. I'm going to try to get back into erging more regularly.

Decided to have another go at this one - the plan was to lower the DF(250) and up the spm as much as I dared(22 spm) to see if I could get below 25 mins.
Changed my mind at the last minute and set the DF to 305 instead.
Iain had mentioned in another thread that muscular endurance rather than CV is the limiting factor when using high df, and I found that out first-hand!!
After about 4500m I started feeling quite fatigued and had to up the rate to maintain my pace, but at no stage was I feeling out of breath.

Managed to get under 25:00 and garnered a few Nonathlon and Meta-nonathlon points :

24:13.9 6000 2:01.1 22
4:07.7 1000 2:03.8 22
4:06.1 2000 2:03.0 21
4:03.8 3000 2:01.9 22
4:00.4 4000 2:00.2 22
3:58.7 5000 1:59.3 23
3:57.2 6000 1:58.6 24
