January Revolution

Post by jainser »

Who's having a go at this and if so what one?

The Stretch---------- Row, ski or ride a minimum of 500m on 20 days in January
The Big Stretch------- Row, ski or ride a minimum of 500m every day in January
The Haul------------ Row, ski or ride for 15 hours in January
The Long Haul------- Row, ski or ride for 30 hours in January
The Burn------------ Row, ski or ride 10,000 calories in January
The Big Burn--------- Row, ski or ride 20,000 calories in January

I went for the Long Haul, figured after Christmas it would get me on the rower, then I remembered it's my birthday later in the month so I need to clock a few more minutes in to cover having another couple of days off. As it's stands it's an hour a day with one day off in the month!!

It's vert strange rowing now when my main priority is time and not distance, never done that before.

I'm going to play safe and go for the haul. My schedule says 24ish hours + warm/cool downs for January. Happy rowing/erging everyone πŸ™‚ I'm sure you'll earn the beer tokens Pete πŸ‘

I'm trying to get a bit more balance to my exercise which has been pretty much 100% rowing for the last few months. So I am doing some cycling and weights, and therefore have gone for The Haul rather than the Long Haul.

I've switched to the long haul I'm sure I will regret that in the last few days of January

There Long Haul is a lot harder than I thought, it is actually a proper challenge. It's doling its job though and getting me on the rower.

I'm doing one of the 'easier' options, The Burn , not the Big one.
Still will be doing 140k+ this month, so it's keeping me busy.

Since my last ctc attempt I haven't been able to row due to pain in my back, so I fail this challenge.
Nothing serious though, I think I'll be ready for the February challenges.

Finished today. Wanted a cushion for the end of the month and got it. Gonna take it a bit easier now. Back has been playing up a bit (ended up wearing a 'weight training' belt over the last couple of weeks) Looking forward to a break and focussing more on times than actual time - you know what I mean!!!!!

Thanks, doing better, but as I mentioned before, no sprints this week. Perhaps I'll do some easy rowing later this week.

I very casually (and foolishly) decided to take on the 20000 calorie challenge. This morning I finally reached the finishing line after just over 26 hours of rowing and 345000 metres. This is more than 120000 metres beyond my previous best month this season and is my highest ever metres rowed in a single month. In truth I am both mentally and physically tired so it was a mighty relief to reach my target. Good luck to everyone with your respective goals and huge respect to those who have rowed further and longer!

Nice one Tom. I keep records of my best months etc. This month got me my 3rd best January and am slowly working up the 'best month' list. Only 2 more days. Can't wait for it to be over and get to more time focused HR focused rows. The timing hasn't been too bad though as I did 'something' to my elbow whilst doing some weights late last year and so I've laid off the weights. The time I saved there I put into rowing for the December challenge then this one.

Completed the "Long Haul" today. By far my highest monthly total for a good few years but I've really enjoyed it.

Well done to everyone who has achieved their goal on this challenge.
