We have six seats filled, so if Peter manages a sprint over the weekend we are still short of at least one rower. Thanks.

Blimey thatโs fast Kevin! Got mine in this afternoon. A bit of a more stately pace giving me 271m, which is 10m short of my best (ie the only other time Iโve ever rowed 1min
) but I was WAY fitter then, so pretty content. Louise

Don't knock it Louise. You're adjusted score is our second highest. Kevin gets the honours for the highest unadjusted score.
Thanks to all who have put in a distance
. We now have 9/10 scores entered and our "rightful" place is restored with a score around 93. Will Colin put in a time I wonder?
Horror of the 2k test next month
. I haven't done a single 2k for ages, so it will be interesting to see how I get on. Onwards and upwards, and thanks again for all of your efforts

It's that time again. Just four seats filled so far this month with one week remaining. Don't leave it too late folks

A rather humble 7:23.7 from my side, might have another go on Sunday:

Lads, it's looking increasingly like I'm going to let you down this month. I pulled a muscle in my back a couple of weeks ago and it appears to be healing at middle-aged lady pace (rather than the superfast speed I anticipated in my fantasy world where I am still young and fit!). I may have a very slow time from some 2k reps at the start of the month, but that's likely all I can offer. So sorry... Louise

Sorry to hear that Louise.
Any time is better than none, especially when we are short of rowers, so please put it in a time from the start of the month.
Heal well.

I had 3 attempts on Tuesday to try and improve on my best so far - 7:58.5 (yes, 7:58.5 - that's how mentally and physically fragile I am these days) - I bailed at around 500~600 on each one. I may have another go tonight.

If it's any consolation at all - you are still 30 secs quicker than me

Just this weekend remaining and we have 6/10 rowers who have entered a time.
If you have a chance to enter a time, anything is better than 0:00

I did indeed have a very slow standing start 2k rep from the start of the month so Iโve stuck that in. Sat on the rower this am for the first time in 3 weeks. The fact I could lower myself on to it and get back up again shows a marked improvement in the back muscle! Rowed very gingerly for a couple of k. Weโll see if I can build on that towards 10k for the end of March (I think March is 10k).

Thanks all for getting us into a position where we have eight seats occupied
Special thanks to those who are struggling with injuries etc but still put in an effort and registered a time.
Just the matter of the 10K in March to contend with now and then a super-sprinty 500m in April to finish the competition.

I think I've managed 1 x 10k and 1 x 60 mins this season. Generally, my spirit to continue on starts to wane rapidly at a bout 15 minutes so 10k is going to be a major effort to complete it.

I was going to do the challenge today if we didnโt have 8 entries for this month, but I see that Iโm off the hook. Given that Iโve only been on the erg once this month (and that was two days ago to do a very slow CTC), thatโs probably just as well!

I decided to have a go anyway. Even slower than I expected at 8:29.5 (my final interval in the CTC was 8:37.6) and my adjusted time is by far the slowest of the 9 results scored by team members this month. To be honest, I think the handicap system is a bit crazy and even if I was quite fit and doing decent times, it would be very hard for me to achieve a decent adjusted score. C'est la vie!

Maybe starting with the 6k and building to the 10k is just the motivation you need to get a bit of your old fizz back Plummy.

Is that a 10K I see on the Meterboard Mr P?

Would you believe it - yes! Managed to get to about 18 minutes without thinking of quitting so pretended I was starting my row at that point. Can't say I enjoyed it but got it done and a score is on the IRL. Thank you for spotting it.

Yes I can believe it Plummy, because you are a 40m meter rower! But 10K is not an easy distance when you are short of mojo, so that's a good effort
. I have to admit I'm not relishing the thought so I will probably have a blast through the CTC 6k first and then turn my attention to IRL.

I think you might struggle to get going again for another 4k straight after the CTC
, good luck all. Annoyingly I was not on the Forum when this came up so missed registration. I intend to have a go at 10k this month as my SB is soft and I am only 1 nonathlon point below my best ever. In the future, if you have heard from me in the previous month or 2 and there are any spare places, i would like to get signed up for this, although I am struggling to find that much time I am determined to try and keep some training going.
Good luck to all.

Unfortunately Iain, there is talk of this being the last IRL. The guy who runs it is struggling to give it the time I think. But if it does run next year I will try to get a call out sooner.
