fall challenge - reminder

Post by Stan »

The fall challenge where we all row as a team starts on september 15. The team is automatically entered but you need to sign up on the teams page of your c2 logbook online.
Hoping to contribute now that my achilles tendon is finally showing signs of getting better. Thought it was getting better last week but then worstened again. Fingers crossed. [-o<

It always takes me longer than it should to find the right page to register. Here is a link (bottom right of this page)

Lucky I saw this thread. I hadn't realised I had to actually push 'join the challenge" . Hopefully the usual meters added across a month, around 250,000 to 350,000.

Cheers, Lesley

I'm glad I saw your post Lesley. I thought I had done everything I needed to do and was getting a message saying I was part of the team, but I wasn't appearing anywhere in the standings. I was about to post here asking for help when I saw your comment about having to click on the Join Team Challenge" button.

After a bit of a wrestling match with the website the Fall Team Challenge Meterboard icon is up and running. If you don't see a orange-brown tree against your name, you are not registered yet.

Thank you Stan and Jon for the reminder and update. :)

On The Good Ship Underwood, it looks as if Jill The Sensible is at the helm, in which case she’s hoping to add at least 100k to the Challenge. However, there have been rumblings in the forecastle and mutinous talk from Jill The Not So Sensible, who claims that 200k is doable … Let’s see which one of them ends up walking the plank.

Jon, my Dancing, Prancing Dog thanks you for his very own tree.🐕

We managed to jump up a place to 8th since yesterday. =D> =D> =D>

I've tidied the page up a bit - http://freespiritsrowing.com/challenges ... llenge.php

I've also added a predictor of distance based on average so far in the challenge

....and our current situation:

We have 115 registered rowers for the Fall challenge.
We have rowed 4,950,487 metres and are team 9 in the rankings.

The team ahead of us is LUNA-TICS.
They have a lead of 82,133 metres.

The team behind of us is Greenville Indoor Rowing.
We have a lead of 326,635 metres.

This is a big improvement on the day. We have closed the gap ahead and opened up a nice lead below. =D> =D> =D>

EDIT - I just spotted the projections are wrong. I'll fix tomorrow.
EDIT - Fixed :)

News just in: (http://freespiritsrowing.com/challenges ... llenge.php)

Our position as a team
We have 117 registered rowers for the Fall challenge.
We have rowed 5,261,963 metres and are team 8 in the rankings.

The team ahead of us is Dark Horse Rowing.
They have a lead of 546,829 metres.

The team behind of us is LUNA-TICS.
We have a lead of 7,802 metres.

We have just crept ahead of LUNA-TICS. [EDIT - spoke too soon  ]

Lesley has made it into the 100K club and Nick into the 200K club after his mammoth 100K row earlier this week ^O^ ^O^. None of you will be surprised that Dwayne has already made it to Hero status.

We continue to close the gap above us. Keep it up fellow spirits =D> =D>

I've added some extra stat to the web page which I will release this evening to the rest of the teams:

Our position as a team
We have 128 registered rowers for the Fall challenge (114 of whom have rowed so far).
We have rowed 7,872,513 metres and are team 8 in the rankings.

They have a lead of 100,114 metres.

The team behind of us is LUNA-TICS.

Some (possibly) Interesting Stats

The median distance for non-zero rowers is 54,121 metres.

Our top rower has rowed 5% of our total distance!
Our top 10 rowers have rowed 27% of our total distance!
Half of our metres have been rowed by the top 27 rowers.

We have rowed 11,350,497 metres and are team 7 in the rankings.

The team ahead of us is Sub7 Indoor Rowing Club.
They have a lead of 1,043,520 metres. Eek!! #-o

The team behind of us is Dark Horse Rowing.
We have a lead of 456,333 metres.

Some (possibly) Interesting Stats
The mean distance for non-zero rowers is 97,849 metres.
The median distance for non-zero rowers is 73,446 metres.

Our top rower has rowed 4% of our total distance! (NB - Dwayne has not recorded any metres for a few days now :?: :?:)

My husband, Kevin Hubbard, has taken up rowing since he retired, so I recently talked him into joining the Free Spirits. He is somewhere around #67 on the meterboard and has ~120k for the Fall Team Challenge, but still no tree  When it's convenient, could you kindly update the challenge icons on the meterboard, so he has a tree? (His registration for the forum doesn't seem to have worked.)

Thanks! You all are looking great!

Go Jill!!!

Peggy - I’ll take a look and see where that tree has gone! As you say he is showing on the metreboard and the C2 team pages, so something has gone awry. Do you know what name he tried to use to register for the forum? When you say it didn’t work, what happened?

I think he tried KMH and it said "already in use" so he tried KMH656 and it said his email was already in use. So maybe the first try did work in some way?

Thanks for looking into it so quickly, Jon! I think he's hooked on the meterboard already. =D> ^O^

Ok - he is now the proud owner of a tree.

I can also see his forum account (KMH) which has not been activated. He should have received an activation email to the gmail address that he gave (maybe check in junk/spam). If it isn't there then let me know and I can activate the account from here.

Meanwhile, I need to figure out why I had to grab that tree for him rather than it sprouting and growing all on its own.

But... Kevin couldn't find the first registration email, so he clicked to have another sent, and then he was able to log in. Yay! But now it says he's "not authorized to read this forum". #-o Two steps forward, one step back, it seems.

Thank you for all your impressive work on here - it’s proving to be not only motivating but fun too. =D> =D> :)

A grand effort on your part for reaching the 100k target. =D> :)

Thank you too Peggy for your encouragement and I hope that Kevin will continue to enjoy his new rowing career. He is not that far behind me ... Gulp! :fswink: Correction: I am not that far behind him.
