Well done Mike and good luck with the new diet. My problems are a sweet tooth and a propensity for drinking too much wine. I managed to be a bit better last week, but I'm heading away for 6 days next week, so next Saturday's weigh in might be challenging!

Paul, it's good to see you're back on the right track. A pretty nice reduction in the last week.

I'm still moving, slowly, in the right direction.

I'm on vacation, away from the erg, the week after next. So we'll see how that goes.

As expected and as predicted by Jill, last week proved somewhat problematic from a weight loss perspective. Five nights away with hotel meals each day, including 5 days of fried breakfasts, took their toll. Lots of time spent driving as well, so not as much exercise as usual. Back in the red zone, unfortunately. #-o

Were the fried breakfasts compulsory then Paul? :-)
Hey, if you can't enjoy yourself when away, when can you!?

I stepped up my time on the erg a little last week and it seems to have paid of. Dropped a full lb since last Wednesday.

I'll be going on a one week trip next week and being away from the erg will be challenging. I'll do my best to avoid the fried breakfasts...
The beer, and hanging out with my brother, may be more of a problem though.

I hope you're enjoying your week away Mike. I managed to get back into the orange zone this week, by the skin of my teeth! It's Jennifer's birthday today and it's a bank holiday weekend, so staying out of the red zone at my next weigh in may prove to be something of a challenge!

I'm a couple of days late in posting this, but it's my weight from Wednesday morning when I usually check in.

I gave a little back on vacation but, all things considered, it's not too bad. What I'm really worried about is that we are starting about 5 days of what's supposed to be 90+ degree weather. Not sure how much erging I can accomplish when it's so hot.

Hi Paul
Remember me? Ha!!
I'm glad you started this thread again as I need a bit of competition, may I please join you and your fellowship in the quest to lose a few inches. I'm just going upstairs to strip off and gently step on the scales and wait for the shock--------. OK 92.6 kg. I was expecting more like 94 kg. So I can target -5kg and get close to my old Erging race weight. On another topic did Strider ever get back to you wouldn't it be great if some of the old names regrouped and tried to gently smash what ever we want to smash [-o<

Hi Colin

Great to hear from you! It would be lovely to hear from Alan. I remember travelling from Leeds-Bradford to Wigan with Alan and back to Birmingham with you many years ago. Those were the days!

Bill Wright took part in a fantastic race, but his wife was unwell and able to compete. Last I heard from you, you were doing a lot of cycling. How are things and what's the balance between cycling and eging?

Best wishes
Paul

Strider hasn’t been on the forum since mid-April by the looks of it.

It looks like I've gotten back on track, somehow. It's a bit surprising, since I haven't been able to do much erging this week due to the weather. My Model C is outside, in the shade, but outdoors nonetheless. The heat wave we've been experiencing here in Southern California has made it difficult to do much outdoor work. Daily high temperatures have been above 90 deg F (32.2 C) here every day since last Thursday. On Monday it got up to 95 F here, but was down to 89 F by 4:00 pm (my usual workout time) so I got in a moderately paced 8K, which is about half of my usual M-W-F distance. The fact that there was virtually no air movement didn't help. Yesterday it hit 103 F (39.4 C) and was still 95 F at 4:00 pm, so I decided to stay inside. Hopefully we will see some cooler weather soon so I can resume my quest for 2,000,000 meters.

Hi Paul firstly Alan's OK says he's stopped erging but doing a bit of running. Regards to myself yes I did return to the bike doing a few 10/25 mile TTs all was going well till I had a bad lung infection following a come back PB on a 10m TT which put me in hospital for a week. So after trying to recover from that here I am on this thread.
First Saturday weigh in 93.1 kg. That's a + .5 so need to try harder.

Hi Colin

Great to hear from you and I hope your recovery from your lung infection is going well. I had an email from Alan and it’s good to hear that he’s doing well. I remember Grimsby a few years back and getting a lift there with Alan and a lift back with you. My recollection is that I was suffering from ‘hunger knock’ and was rambling quite a lot until you dropped me off at Birmingham Airport.

Good luck with the cycling. I managed to get back on the erg for a few metres earlier this week and then noticed that I had failed to log a few sessions over the past couple of months, so it looks on the meter board as if I did a marathon session. Haven’t logged my weight recently (too embarrassed to do so!), but will aim to do so next week.

Cheers
Paul

Still stuck in the red zone, but a small move in the right direction since my last weigh in.

Not much to report here..just pretty steady for a few weeks. I finally broke down this week and brought the erg indoors because it's been too hot over he past four weeks to work out outside. On Monday I felt like I'd completely lost all the progress I've made since January, but felt a little better yesterday.

not much progress considering 3 weeks erging, hopefully as the distance and pace increase things may improve.

Inspired by my wife who has recently lost a lot of weight and is looking even more gorgeous than before, I have decided to get back into some decent shape - I have never had a problem doing the exercise, my issue is the amount of food I eat, so I am trying to cut down my intake.
Had my first weigh-in last Monday and have had a good first week - I know I can't continue at that rate of improvement but I am encouraged by the initial results.
