Happy Birthday Peter

Post by commodoreann »

Presently we are on ths Silver Cloud expedition ship off the coast of Capetown waiting to enter the port tomorrow.
We were just informed that we can anchor and start to discarge passrngers tomorrow. Our ship is virus free!! We have been on this ship since Feb 28 with visits to the Falklands, South Georgia and Tristan du Cuna. We started this cruise in Ushaia, Argentina.

Well, tomorrow is Peter's Birthday and let us all celebrate this event by raising our glasses high for the world to heal with a speedy recovery and also that the planes are flying to get us home safely.

All the best to all Free Spirits!

You two sure know how to do retirement! What an inspiration. Happy Trip Around the Sun to my invisible friend Peter! You're missing all the "fun" back in the states... Ugh...

Raising a Sierra-Nevada Pale Ale to you, sir!

Thank you all for your wishes and for following Ann's request to raise a glass!

It is now 4 PM on Friday March 20. Yesterday, after being held at anchor most of the day, we were allowed to dock in a remote secure location but not allowed to lower the gangway. This morning we moved to a closer dock and started reprovisioning, but no one can disembark until the government officials clear the ship. They are apparently are not going to get to us until the passengers on a larger German ship are retrieved by their country.

So, maybe tomorrow but more likely Sunday or Monday, if they can find us flights.

Belated happy birthday from one Peter to another and I‘m sorry that those Germans delayed your disembarkment!

Thank you Peter. No problem with the Aida ship except for the clothing optional top deck. A lot of people on our ship said they wish they could un-see that!

The liquor options are getting a bit limited, but I guess that is the problem with staying longer on a cruise than we paid for. 🤔

LoL! I can relate to that. I'll never forget my first foray onto a clothing optional beach (Orient Beach in French St Martin). I was probably 30 at the time. Images still burned into my retina that I wish I could unsee... fwiw, I was a voyeur from the cruise ship rather than a participant.

Gotta take the bad with the good? :)
