Max, that's why I always wear one of those while erging:

Decided to have my second go at the ctc one day earlier so I might be able to do the IRL mile today. My last try was a 2:17.3 (1:43.0) which had been beaten by Dave  :fswink: So my plan was to start out at last time's pace of 1:43.0 for the first half and then see if I can get any quicker:

1:43 pace felt a bit too easy to my surprise so I tried to stick to 1:42 as long as possible, even managed a decent finish sprint. Overall quite happy with the result :fswink:

Great work, Peter. I gave it a try yesterday but didn't succeed. No time today so that's it for this month.
Good luck with the IRL mile today :fswink:

plummy wrote: Tue Oct 29, 2019 8:07 pm Not in the habit of having a second go with CTCs these days and coming off the back of a head cold last week I really wasn't going to bother but a certain Mr Taylor popped in a teasing pace of 1:44.4 against my 1:45.1 so I thought "I wonder..."

1:43.0 was my new pace and 2:17.2 total time (actually 0.1s ahead of Peter so he'll have to have another go ;-) - plenty of erg cough and that horrible suffocating feeling for 30 seconds after - bleurghhh - not doing this one again.
Well done Plummy. I knew you wouldn't be able to help yourself.

These short distances are really not my forte. I gave it two tries today and this was the less disappointing.
