Agreed! Tako, I'm coming for you, but you might be safe this month.

That was a great time Tako, well done on that huge improvement! =D>

Steve, all that otw stuff seems to do you good, very strong time! =D>

I had my third try yesterday and was able to shave off another 6.6 seconds:

Legs were totally done after that, don't think I'll have a fourth go.

After a week and a half getting a bit in shape again I thought I would give it a try. Certainly didn't think to go faster then Peter already.
Was aiming for a first rep in a 1:50 pace and a second in 1:45. Thought the third one would be slower but felt relatively comfortable at the pace I was going. The same for the last one, except that the last 100 meters weren't comfortable in any way.
Pleased with the result.

It would have been wise to do a trial run. Or at least to think of this month's challenge like a short 1k, 500m, 1k, 500m rather than a slightly long 500m, sprint, 500m, sprint. Too late now!

The 1st interval was awful. I went out too fast, slowed down, slowed down some more then needed to speed up before eventually hitting a sensible pace. Stung by that the 2nd interval was at a slower pace than I expected but at least the pacing was sensible. Interval 3 was good, held a consistent 1:41. 4th interval sprinted and held on determined not to see a 1:35. At some point my legs stopped working and I started impersonating an orangutan on an erg. But it was all worth it for a sub 1:40 (7:37.5 @1:39.5).

Tako, I hope you like the new target .

Been feeling a bit off most of this month. Not what you'd call actually ill but certainly not firing on all cylinders. Might just be poor sleep quality in the warm, light summer nights. I started to feel a bit sharper back end of last week so sneaked this in today. Hoping the effort doesn't cause a relapse !

I had been a bit worried about the longer intervals thinking that it would be easy to go too far into the hole & end up HDing but in the event it was the final interval that kicked my backside. Not that I'm disappointed mind you, given my recent lack of form I reckon this was more than I deserved.

As always some great team performances. It's great to see some of the support & friendly rivalry.

Guy, Wow that's fast!!! And I loved the way boat 1 jumped a few places.

PS Colin I've just noticed you have posted a sub 1:40 time, pipping me by 0.5 seconds!

Hi Max, yeah I was pretty pleased with my time until I saw Guy's! Some other fast times up now as well.

Cheers,
Colin

Some amazing scores on the board so far - well done team Image

After a lean couple of months over the summer my fitness has really gone backwards fast and my weight has ballooned accordingly so I've put myself on a strict diet and have been doing lots of long slow stuff to start to rebuild the engine and will add in some interval training soon as well.

Tried this on Tuesday and the 1st 831m felt 'easy' at 1:40 and managed the 318m in sub 1:35 but that was as good as it got and I crawled home with my tail between my legs. Wasn't sure that I would redo it as I was in no danger of troubling the faster boats but decided I really wanted at least to do a properly executed piece so went again this morning with much better results Image

Hopefully with the aim of peaking for the Scottish Championships!

Claudius, Thank you! I was thinking of trying to beat Colin's time for a seat in Boat 1, but your time is just too quick. So it will be my usual training routine tomorrow.

My initial thought was: No chance!

But I looked up the date and realised it was exactly 12 weeks away and started to have second thoughts...
