OK Tako, the gauntlet has been thrown. 5:05.4 @ 1:41.8. Looking forward to seeing what you, Claudius, Guy, Max, etc throw at this in the next week.

Cheers,
Colin

Congratulations on a great time! I told you that you should be faster than me :-)

No threat from my side this week.

Not feeling very good today but this was my last chance for a go. Opted for fly n die hoping I wouldn't die. Held steady at 1:42 for 850m but mind, legs and lungs weren't willing to fight out the last 2 minutes. On to next month.

Still a solid time Joe, firmly in boat II!

Hello,

great work done here ! =D>

Had a first try on April the 1st ( no fooling) but HDing - target sub 1:40 pace - as i was able to do this some months ago...so had a go yesterday and started at a pace around 1:42.5, i knew Colin was sub 1:42 , so pushed it down in the middle splits, i am quit happy with the result. At the moment the focus is cycling - as i have great opportunities to ride outside in upper palatinate (and indoors as well on the bike erg), but do not have close possibilities to row on the water here. Preparing for a MTB race mid May.

Sorry team. Still not 100% but had to try to fit an IRL 500m & the CTC into the same lunchtime. This was the rather unfortunate result. Body was still in sprint mode & the first split felt stupidly easy. I wasn't fooled but there was nothing I could do about it. Apocalyptic FnD. Really not fun.

Sorry about the FnD, Guy. It happens to all of us. Doing a 500 in the same session sounds like the sort of foolery I would try. I also see a strong effort from Morten was just posted. Well done! 3 rowers under 5:05 in boat I and six boats afloat!

Claudius: challenge accepted.

Cheers,
Colin

PS I don't know how you high stroke rate folks do it. 36 for Claudius? 30-31 feels crazy fast to me. I rowed this piece at 140 drag. I normally sit 22-24 in long pieces ~130-135 drag factor.

PPS About an hour after this row tried to row a PB 500m (1:30.6 or less) and ended up with a 1:31.6. Oof. Guy was right. Don't try it.

Ok the 36 on the last split: with a less good tecnique due to fatigue, but 34 on a 1500m piece for me feels good, i am not that strong to produce powerfull relaxed strokes, Drag was 132, on longer pieces like 30min-10 k 120-125, sprints much higher- also the rate with less stroke length - tried it otherwise- it is difficult to change habbits
