World Erg Team Challenge 2019

Post by Tako »

Dear fellow FreeSpirits!

Please remember to sign up for the World Erg Team Challenge on the Teams tab of your C2 Log Book!

Your meters only count for the team if you sign up there, and from the new logo we added to the meterboard today we can see that far too many have not done so.

If you have not done it yet, please do it before the deadline as the team needs all your meters!

Make all meters count!

Iβ€˜m in!

The deadline to join this challenge is March 30th, 23:59 GMT. To do so you need to go to the β€žTeamsβ€œ tab in your C2 logbook, then sign up for the World Erg Challenge under β€žCurrent Challengeβ€œ.

You donβ€˜t need to row any extra meters, just follow your usual traning/rowing routine, but after signing up every meter will count towards the team meters.

We are currently in 5th spot! :fswink:
Athletes row, others just play games

Dear Mr Tako and dear Mr Peter,

I have signed up for the challenge but as I am not here at the moment, I will not be able to row any more metres until Monday.

I will need to row the metres because yesterday, I was very bad and ate far too much Wensleydale cheese ... and I’m going to be very bad again today, when I eat some more. :fswink:

I redeemed myself though by only drinking my favourite tipple, sparkling β€˜ miserable β€˜ water. :D

I will look forward to seeing you on the Metreboard.

Yours sincerely,

Jill xx

Dear Mrs Jill ;-)

To me that sounds like you are having a well deserved break after your 15 rows for the mud challenge in order to recharge for the remaining 10!

Enjoy!!

I'm in - not that that should shock anybody...but it's a good idea to highlight that a) the event exists and is taking place and b) that you don't need to row any more than your usual metres (although a few extra couldn't hurt ;-) ) and help the team towards the total.

Yes, and third place would have been no problem if all that enter meters into their C2 log book would have signed up for the team for this challenge.... It is a bit annoying that one has to separately sign up on the team’s page.

Agreed although I guess they have to "ask". It would be better if we could auto-enrol FS members for all team challenges as I don't think it's a deliberate thing for FS teamies to not enrol, I think it's just simply that a lot of people don't look beyond the meterboard and don't read the forum.

The logbook page had a big reminder in red type to register for this challenge, so those that have logged metres and not registered have obviously done that out of choice - can’t see what the problem is

Hi Paul
It is of course not a problem, i just find it strange that there is a separate registration required, because why have the Free Spirits affiliation if you have a problem with logging your meters for the team challenges, after all that is one of the things you need the team affiliation for.
Without the team requirement to join the FTC, VTC, WTC I would never have known-about/seen/joined the Free Spirits and consequently missed out on the fun of being part of the team.
Of course one is free to choose freely.

Hi Tako

You make a good point about some of the challenges requiring a separate registration, and some not - it seems a bit strange and I wouldn't have a problem if any metres I logged were automatically included.
The point I was trying to make though, within the way this challenge was set up, a clear choice was offered, and those that were interested registered, those that aren't big on the whole team thing didn't.

Cheers
Paul

And I agree with your point, Paul.
It is just my competitive mind that gets annoyed by seeing all those meters in the Meterboard but not in the team challenge :-)
