This is almost identical to the September '18 CTC which was 2818m so I set off at the pace I managed that one which proved to be a tad fast and I briefly handled down before thinking better of it. Tried to put in enough of a sprint finish to dip under 10 minutes but no luck

An early entry from me as well. Weekend just begun, didn't want to start too fast. Overall the pace is one second slower then the September challenge.
Let's see what happens...

Did this today - chose the free rating, which turned out to be arond 25spm. Result: 10:55.3. I might go a bit faster later in the month...

I had two bites at this early today. First run through was an attempt at r19, which definitely was not my finest moment. None of my standard sessions involve any sub r20 pieces, so this was a step into the unknown. Not very consistent pacing and sluggish to boot.

Image

Second attempt was free rate, and quite similar to my interactive plan UT1 sessions. I should be able to achieve 1.54 pace at least really, so there's work to be done here Image

Together with the IRL this distance is nice for some longer intervals, so after blowing up on the 2k for the IRL, I thought I have an easy go at the 2801m to have a first marker.
First started with the 19spm, but that felt really bad, so went up a bit and ended up way down on the table. After another easy interval I tested what was left for the day ;-)
First aiming at Ian and Erik, but noticed legs felt better, so went for Fred instead (sorry) and managed to pass him :-)
Felton is probably out of reach this month, but you never know, anyway I will try more of these interval sessions:

After all I have to pay him back for January ImageImage

OK, I'm improving.
But not that much! You guys need to have another go :P
I actually started with a 1:53 target, but my mental calculation was wrong and after a few hundred I knew it should be quicker sadly.
600 - 1:52.3
1200 - 1:52.4
1800 - 1:50.9
2400 - 1:48.6
2801 - 1:45.1
result - 10:17.4 / 1:50.2

Well done Mr.Smith!!! ImageImageImage

I heard your call ;-)

You meant something like this???

First I thought “YES”, as the display showed 10:00.9, but when uploading it turned out to be 10:01.0 which I thought matched Felton, but only to notice that I messed up the decimals, as his time is 10:00.1

Well, at least I am so far closer than last month and many days left ImageImage

Well done, Tako, Wolfie ^O^
Personally gave it a try as well, but I strained a muscle in my back this week and though the rowing is ok the breathing is a bit painful. Which is annoying when doing a challenge like this. So I didn't finish, but as Tako said, there are many days left.
All those little agonies are part of growing old of course, and I realize I'm lucky to be quite healthy, but well, sometimes...

This was a complete self doubt piece. Started out with a pace boat @ 1.54 which immediately felt too slow. Picked up the pace and wavered between 51-53 pace as I alternated rapidly between feeling fine and anxious about finishing at all. Found a bit of energy to sprint home.

Now safely away from the erg I'm wondering if there's a few more seconds to be trimmed......

Very well done to everyone Image Image

Well done Ian.
Fred, take care of the back and I hope it recovers for you.

With Saturday's race out of my mind and after a long time with mostly long sessions it was time for the ctc again. I had no clue how to pace this one, so I told myself: if in doubt, chase Steve  :fswink: So the plan was to start out at 1:52 pace, see how that feels, speed up if possible but definetely go for it with 500m to go. This is how it went:

1:52 pace felt ok right from the beginning so after the second 400m segment I decided to push it a bit, down to a 1:51 pace. After segment #4 I still felt ok so I went for a 1:50 split. With 800m to go it was time for an (early) finish sprint.

Really happy with the outcome and a temporary seat in FS I. But that won't last for long as I'm sure Steve's (and Jonny Lear's) revenge will come soon

A hard effort sneaked me just ahead of Wolfie, meaning I was in boat 1 ... for less than 4 hours before Peter edged me. More pain ahead :(

That's absolutely not necessary Jonny! Being a good team mate I don't want you to be in any pain you know, why aren't you having a rest until let's say March 1st? :D

Cheers Peter, you're right, I'll have a rest for a few days now ... but only just read your message

Wow great result Amber!!! ImageImageImage

Only 3.6sec slower than Mr.Bee and well ahead of Dave ;-)

It has been a while since we had a boat that close to the top ten, that late in the month, if I am not mistaken?!

So with Guy, Claudius, Morten and Max still out there, the first boat can even go higher.

But wait, that might kick me into the 2nd....

Well well, we’ll see... Image

I thought I'd keep the LWT seat in boat 1 a little longer Image

This pretty much matched the pace predictor's pace, and for shame there might have been enough to sneak under 20s had I been a smidge more confident with the sprint finish....

I confess to having forgotten that I am away again this week and only remembered at the weekend. So I ended up leaving myself 3 rowing days for the IRL, an attempt to keep my PB run going and the CTC. That's a long way of saying it will be the last day of the month before I get a chance to attempt this.

Hello, well done everyone, and it is really a very similar ctc like the one in September, but after a week in Garmisch with lot of nordic skiing and after that a whole week complete without sport i sat since Starnberg first time on erg on this Sunday evening to get a score for the ctc, wasnt in the mood for trying it under a 1:45 pace...which could have ended up in HDing...and i do not wanted that... :? ...so made it finally in under 10 min, not my best...but thats what was achievable !

It might not be your best, but it surely is the best for FS so far :-)
