THOMAS' FREE SPIRITS AT BIRC VIDEO WINS!!!!

Post by Mike Channin »

Thomas's Free Spirits Video from BIRC has been awarded a prize by Concept 2 for the best video (equal first with Niall's BIRC Montage)

Well done Thomas - Free Spirits are definitely on the map now!

Have to take this opportunity to say how impressed I am with the quality and standard of Thomas's productions.

If anyone hasn't yet seen them, he's also done videos for Newark and Marcus (OrangeRider)'s 100k.

I'm sure the man himself will be along shortly to post some links to them. (The Orange Rider one is available via the home page, and the two race ones can be found by searching for "Free Spirits Rowing" on youtube)

WELL DONE THOMAS!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and there's another youtube contest anounced in the latest C2 newsletter - so let's try and win that too!

Oooh. How exciting. But how do you know this stuff? Where is it announced?

Do I win anything other than glory and honour?

I never seem to get the C2 newsletters.

Thanks for the tip Bangers - I think extreme erging has to be the subject of the film. We have until February - lets start planning.

I will start the storyboard ;) But I think a documentary about getting an ergo to the top of a mountain and meeting people from a website that you have never met before has got to be a winner!

Rowing on top of a mountain eh, perhaps the film title could be 'VERGIGO'

Personally, I think it was my dying rower impersonation that did it!

(Plummy's video is even funnier, as you can see the panic from the cox when she thinks I'm gonna pass out or hurl)

Yes, my video was always a first cut. Now I have the end of John's race and others it has been my intention to update the video.

Now it is a prize winner I don't dare :)

To celebrate my win I have done a 30 second video of the end of my marathon...

...it will be public for a little while, then I will make it private since I am not sure I want the grief of students saying "sir, we saw you on youtube..." for the next 6 months.

Anyone who wants access to the private Free Spirits videos just needs to drop me a PM with their email address.

The video is available for at:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McKfMVTNHjM

P.S. Orangerider - if you want your video made private let me know...

Bad Link!

Post by ReducingFB »

Can't think you went private within 10 minutes - and could only find Cameron Diaz, and she wasn't erging 8)

Have to try again

No, still public - can't check at school because of the proxy filters.

But search on FreeSpirits as a keyword and you should find it.

Ah. Oops. Will sort it out when I get home.

The school proxy denies youtube for obvious reasons.

Well - I don't plan to do it too often and Tamsin was coming out every hour to check I was still alive. She missed the bit where I had to lift my left leg out of the footrest because it was completely numb!

And Mike, I am sure that fact explains why my shins are not vertical AGAIN! Got to work on that!

Shins looked better in that, from the few strokes shown. Might just be the angle, but you look to be going further forward at the catch. (Ironically, as I'd probably shorten up a bit when doing a marathon!)

Well done T W-P!

I might have to do another FM soon - has been a while...

  This is post number 7000 on the forum!

I can do two letters a stroke, but it is not very satisfactory and RowPro is very delicate about other apps running so I tend to avoid it!

Link worked this time - Good on you. Thought you finished with more of a look of bewilderment than elation - but then again, I've never tested my arse to that extent up to now !!
