FSP:
4 scores registered and our captain is again leading the pack with the best adj score!!!
For the Nonathlon I still need to crack the Pb on the 10k, but today’s all in wasn’t even close with 38:49.6 @ 1:56.4 and 24spm
Come on you 4 that still need to enter a score! Let’s push this FSGs a bit

Tako, I have posted a HR restricted 10k row from earlier in the month. 40.31.0 @2:01.5, ave HR 126. A full effort will need to wait due to minor injury. Pity because its ruled out the World Virtual Indoor sprint and the Mud Season Madness
.

FSG
Hello, i had a go for the 10 k yesterday in my lunch hour. I had a few options in my mind: a negative split -2 from 1:59 - 1:51, a submaximal 39min, or a full go - decided to do the full one as usual- but thanks to your warnings of HDíng i decided to back off after the first 2k - just a bit - so no pb - but i am happy with that result !
the splits

Nice work going on here. I tried to gain a few seconds but bailed at 5k. Bit of a fail in the cajones department as I was well ahead of pace and should have just backed off for a while. I'll be trying again for FSP though.

Another attempt today. Was aiming for 38:30 with slightly negative splits and ended out with 38:24.4, whit which I'm really pleased at the moment.
Perhaps one more attempt this month, though I'm not looking forward to it.
Not much left afterwards. Which brings me to a kind of noob question: I understand the feeling HD stands for, but where does the abbreviation stand for?
This is how it went:

HD = Handle Down. It and many other terms are defined in
Plummy's Lexicon Guide

As I didn't want to leave this until the last weekend of the month I had a proper attempt last night. Most recent rows have been slower paced and HR restricted so wasn't sure what to expect. Decided to try and match Captain Philip's adjusted score which meant a pace of 1:53. I quickly settled into 1:52-1:53 pace and just kept going... A case of I'm a quarter, third, half etc way through so I might as well keep going so I don't have to do it again! Ended with a short sprint on 37:19.3 @1:51.9. As I never thought I'd get close to Claudius's score I didn't remember it which was a pity as I see now his pace was 1:51.8. What I did notice was my HR rising, higher, and higher. My previous max was 172 so when it went close to, then above that I thought wow. It peaked at 176

Managed (at last) to finish a 10k this morning. I again had to back off a couple of times but at least I didn't quit - although it was close at least once. Added to that I scraped a bit off my IRL entry time from 41:08.6 down to 40:48.2. Hardly earth shattering - but at least an improvement of sorts...

Very impressive rows for different reasons above - well done all.
For Team Guy:
I've had a series of no expectation type rows for this piece this month, but I think this will be as good as its going to get - no balance on power, df or spm for this distance all of a sudden.

Wanted to give this one a final shot, and since I was already pleased with the result I had before decided to aim for my PB. And I succeeded!!! Well, good timing to do so I think...
Not much left the last K's but seeing the ETA kept me going.

Brilliant, well done Fred!
Unsurprisingly, after two and a half weeks traveling, beer, and no exercise, my return today was disappointing.
A persistent delivery man kept knocking the door too, so that added more time
I'll add the 41:06 for TG, but hope to have one more attempt on Friday.

Bugle call to team FSP
Not much time left to do those hard yards and get your scores in.
We can close the gap between us and team FSG.
You know you can do it.
Your captain has spoken

Hi Philip
Team Guy I'm afraid.
not happy with my interrupted attempt on Monday, so pushed on for another go today.
Much better at 39:48.8

Bugle call answered
Not done much recently due to 'niggles' so found this pretty tough and probably would have hd'd if this had been earlier in the month. Well done for everyone completing this - just the 500m to go, easy right?

Nice row Felton, although it is weird to see you half a minute behind.
Since about two weeks I am struggling with a cold, so I am happy I tried a fast 10k earlier this month. Had a plan to improve that time, but no chance. Really struggling to paddle the mud challenge home; only 3 more 10k to go in times above 50min while having the tv on.....

Team Guy
Realised the other day that I hadn't posted a score so hastily added a time from early in the month (which I
had managed to post for the Fitness Matters challenge - getting forgetful in my old age !). Then I was sat at work yesterday thinking I should be able to go a bit faster so I had another crack last night & took over a minute off
No doubt that was everything I had last night - I was pulling some very odd faces by the end.
Now I need to have a read back through the thread to see what feats of rowing prowess I've missed this month ...

WOW that's quick! No wonder you top your IRL category
. And I see Mr Bee is also doing rather well...
Fantastic row Guy - those splits are awesome.
As for my perch on the rankings, I'm aided significantly by rather patchy entries for those below (but I won't tell if you don't
).
