Nice improvement Steve, well done! We were second for November already, but thanks to your effort the distance to fourth spot in the overall ranking is now halfed to 0.09 points. =D>

I‘d love to close that gap myself but failed to better my time tonight :(

Great tries guys. I hope to help to clise the hapt o the fourth place but at the moment I’m feeling a bit weak. With ten days to go there’s time to recover so who knows.
Good luck everyone.

Team FSP is currently 3 scores short, but I hope the gentlemen have their plans to enter one.

That is if your health is ok again captain! Best wishes from cold Norway to the warm Southern Hemisphere.

Max, you hopefully recovered from your great performance last weekend. And remember a long row is much better than these crazy sprints for the CTC, they are not good for your back anyway, so no need to put your efforts there

Iain I feel your pain regarding the CTC attempts yesterday, hope you can make a score for the IRL as well. Much easier than those crazy intervals....

After all the score for the IRL would be a good start for the Holiday challenge starting tomorrow!

Thanks, Tako. I’m still on the long, tedious road to recovery from the dreaded shingles, but nonetheless I intend to have a go at the distance this month since a recorded time is better than no time at all. Besides that, I don’t want to let the side down.
Full steam ahead for FSP!

Was going to do a half hour first as I have only done one hard distance since 2 September! But with a 30 min for the December CTC coming up, I will now do this the next time I can face a hard session, but not today as feeling the sprint extravaganza. I should have realised that Plummy's time would not be within reach. I may have been able to challenge his sprints once, but optimistic now.

That's the spirit, Captain Image
I think I'll have one more go at this, either end of this week or start of next

Team Philip

Not having done a hard distance for ages I really wasn't sure what to expect. But I was hoping for at least one of the following: match Felton's impressive time, go faster than my 6k PB pace, go sub 23 mins or have an adjusted score of sub 21 mins.

Unfortunately it was really tough and I managed to miss them all :( . Final result was 23:02.2 @1:48.9 which adjusted is 21:04.2. But as my 6k PB is @1:48.8 I'm not too disappointed.

I am nopt sure I will get another chance at this one. not feeling great after runniing around officiating junior football in a very fast game. H/D at half way  . Not sure why, just not mentally prepared and so when i couldn't keep up the pace due to struggling to maintain a reasonable rating just caved. pulled myself together to get a time on the board with a rerun about 1S/500m slower, but didn't manage the hoped for acceleration until the final 3 mins so ended up at 2:07.1 pace, 0.3S/500m from prediction from last month's times even 'though I thought I had improved a little :( . Still at least got a time. I guess I should have done a 30 miin before as previously planned. Still on plus side managed 18k for the holiday challenge with the recovery between the 2 W/up and C/D. Sorry Team Philip. Hopefully can do a bit better next month.

- Iain

After a couple of failures today I tried it again and actually succeeded. A minor improvement for me and the team (FSG).
Started too fast, thought I wouldn't be able to set a better time but keeping in mind the Holiday Challenge decided to keep on rowing. After some while I saw on RowPro that I wasn't that far behind myself the last time. This was stimulating, kept about the same pace for a while and in the end managed to go faster. Ended out about 6 seconds faster. With a nice negative split, starting after about 2k.

Last minute attempt tonight after several aborted rows in the past ten days and I wasn‘t convinced to beat my old time of 24:18.6 until the final 500m. Hard piece of work and an improvement by only 3.4 seconds but nevertheless happy with that (and a shiny nonathlon point, too :D ):

Free Spirits Guy and Free Spirits Philip finished the November challenge in 12th and 13th position, just like the October challenge.

Well done to both teams, it was a fun month! :fswink:

Let‘s see how the 5000m for the December challenge will suit us.

Hello, brave rows in November for both teams, entering a late result must be like catching a train right before its departure...and with a better result...good work Peter !

I also HDed on Monday by the 5k attempt. I had to regain power after that starving...and so regain a bit weight for that...so my decision is to make a early go for the irl- as for that i cant change my weight-status, but let me more time for the ctc. So that is my result for the irl in December - the 5k (with 76kg):

Absolutely, fast from the beginning and you never slowed down during the row, very nice!

I had a first go at the 5k yesterday:

Not too bad, but still 20 seconds slower than my SB, so there's room for improvement...

Put a marker in on Tuesday after a 2kTT (7:31.0 - which hurt...a lot) with a surprising 20:20.2 so figured I must be able to go faster without the 2k before it.

Managed a painful 19:42.5 - which is actually my second best of the season. Had to ease off a tiny bit in the second to last split but didn't really have to fight off any HD demons. Now, where did all that oxygen go..???

Also a marker here today. Wanted to try to finish in about 19 minutes. In the beginning I thought it was going to easy (funny feeling...) so slowed down a little since it was the first one and I didn't to have to quit. Halfway I still felt pretty ok, so from there on started to speed up a little again. Sort of a pyramid split.
Rowing more frequently plus the planking exercises I do nearly every morning since the beginning of the year seem to work pretty well for me at the moment. Still 5.5 seconds slower then last year, but I'm pretty convinced I can beat that time. Hope I'm not to optimistic, let's see what happens.
For now very satisfied with 18:48.5

Very nice row there Fred, well done! I had another go myself last night and like Fred I'd like to get to 19 minutes, unfortunately I'm still left on this side of the 19' mark:

The splits make it look easier than it was. In fact I had an urgent wish to h/d in the middle of the fourth k but once the remaining meters turned to 999 it gave me a little boost motivation wise. With 400m to go overall pace was at my last time's effort (1:55.4), so I knew I could beat my old time if I "just" kept pulling those 1:50s. Fairly happy with an improvement by almost 7 seconds, but I really want to go sub 19 again.

For me add the 2nd and 3rd k as well . In fact I had to back off twice which suggests I went out too fast in the hope of going sub 18 minutes. Ended with 18:06.2 which adjusted is a very respectable 16:36.4. Unlikely to get in another go because I am away at the in-laws for Christmas. Come on Team Philip!!!

PS Claudius that is an awesome time =D> =D> =D>

Woke up this morning with a firm plan to log a reasonable time. Pace boat was at pb pace - 0.3s, and for the first half I was trading blows with my digital competitor. As I got to 2km remaining, it still felt OK so I dabbled with a sprint finish.

It felt surprisingly OK though my heart rate trace showed I hit max for the last 5 minutes or so.

Absolutely!

Mr. Bee, are you picking on me? You beat my time by 0.3 seconds, so you‘ll understand that I had to answer your latest effort. Which happened about an hour ago. Plan was to row the first three k at a 1:55 pace, then see if I could speed up a little in the next k and then all in for the final k. This is how it went:

Firt three k went ok but I didn‘t dare risking too much in the fourth k, so I left it until the last 1000m to go for it. With 600m to go I was at my previous attempt‘s row, so that helped a lot to keep pushing. When I saw the occasional „19:00“ as the predicted finish I thought „why not give Mr. Bee a run for his money and go sub 19“. Well that‘s what I did, over to you Ian :D
