Team Guy - sorry folks, I have an ongoing issue with my lower back which was getting better until I refereed a rugby match on Saturday and is now much worse.
I will rest it and hope to get a time in by the end of the month. At least I managed to log a CTC time before it flared up again.

Team Philip
Not quite in a position to be able to better challenge Claudius so aimed for around 1:42/1:43
I will hope to be closer to 1:40 later in the month with more training meters and a more committed effort
Well done everyone for posting times. Jon, hope the injury isn't too serious

Sorry to hear about your back Jon - always better safe than sorry with a dodgy back so take it easy.
Wasn't in the mood for rowing at all after a manic weekend and legs that were just begging to be given a few days off but wanted to at least get a marker down. Full race warm up and just gunned it as best I could. Ended up with 5:56.8 which to be honest, I'm astonished with as I expected something around 15s slower than that. Hacked up a lung, several shopping trolleys and no end of clag since then though!
400m splits were
1:51.6
1:51.2
1:51.2
1:49.0
...so actually pretty well paced!

great time Guy, with super pacing too.
Plummy, fine effort by your good self there also.
also Team Guy.
5:44.7 / 1:47.1
1:46.5/1:47.0/1:48.2/1:46.7
Nearly lost it on the 3rd 400
Not overly happy with that, but the best I can do.

Still really struggling with the (literally) old back, but decided any time was better than no time, so I threw in a very safe 6:07.8 to at least get us some points. I’ll pay the price tomorrow.
Both Spirits teams in the top 3 at the moment

FS Teams are currently placed 1st and 2nd
I had another crack at it and was a bit braver with the back. Managed to knock 5 seconds off my time.

FSG
Definitely not what I am hoping for but I wanted to enter at least a time. I certainly hope for something better before the end of the month.

Well done Fred. That's a full boat for us now
Use me as a target. I'm sure you can thrash my time!

Team Guy :
Had an all out bash at this, with the vague plan that pace should really be inside my recent 2km pb. Turns out that was possible, but I'd say there's very little room for improvement.

Improved my time today with about 14 seconds. Perhaps I'll give it another try later on this week, see if I can improve the team effort a bit more.
Today was after a day's work, maybe this weekend I'll be able to go a bit faster.

Though I wasn't sure if I would be successful today I'm very happy with the result. About ten seconds faster then earlier this week and moreover 4 seconds faster then last year's result.
The same pyramid shape in splits as last wednesday but especially in the middle a lot faster. The strokes per minute are every split exactly the same...
The last split is a bit slower which I think is good, not much left anymore.
If you're planning to give it another shot, good luck

That's a great improvement Fred
FSP are two rowers short this monthy. I hope we are not going to pay the price for running two boats in a season. Anyone fancy joining in to increase numbers?

Team Guy:
Great improvement Fred, you're in very good shape these days. Also Steve is really fast, I tried to beat his time yesterday but failed:

On the one hand this is three seconds quicker than my first effort early in the month, on the other hand it's four seconds slower than last year

I think FSP have eight scores by now, as have FSG, so both teams are safe. It appears though that both teams couldn't hold their position in the overall table, we are currently in 12th and 13th position:

The good thing though is that FSG beat FSP this month

Good work folks. We improved our score this month compared to last.
89.76 points in September. 91.95 in October.

I'm quite liking this month's event. I put down a 'marker' for myself at the ed of last month of 25:38.4. today I popped that row into RowPro as a virtual competitor along with a 2:01 pace boat and managed to beat my time with a 25:29.2. There is something a bit weird about sitting in your garage rowing yourself into a frenzy to beat an electronic version of yourself, but somehow I find it motivates me.
I managed to pick up a tidy number of Nonathon points too for the 6K distance. Double win

Don‘t worry Jon, that‘s completely normal
And congrats on the improvement and the nonathlon points!

I think we all have these moments of clarity... Don't worry, you'll get over it.
First go today, haven't rowed longer distances in a high pace for a while. About 25 seconds slower then last year, but hopefully later this month I'll get closer.
Now finished in 24:18.8

Well done Fred and Jon, another Team Guy here;
Dialed in 6433 and attempted 1:56 splits. Given I can now go under 40min again for 10k, I thought this might be doable.
Wrong.
Cardio base still way off. Managed 3k and slowed.
Finished in 24:49.0 / 1:57.3
Nice and early in the month, so will keep trying

Had a go at this tonight and it was pretty sad to be honest. Where once, holding sub 2:00 pace was only a challenge for 10km+ now I can barely do it for 5k and didn't even manage it for 6.344 tonight.
25:25.9 after backing off 3 times - I think my days of being "competitive" are over given my form for the last 3 months or so

Don't be too hard on yourself Dave - without wishing to be too glib form is temporary, class is permanent.
By comparison, for Team Guy I tacked my attempt on the back of a IP 3x 3min, 3r (TR). Which was not ideal.
