I had a last minute attempt last night and could better my score from a poor 316m to a still poor 321m. Nevertheless, like Max said, team Philip did a great job and beat team Guy in the January challenge. Well done team Philip! Both teams are still in 12th and 13th position on the overall table:

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2018 / 2019
Did 4 2K intervals today and finished the last one in 7:19.4. Thought I might as well enter this as an early score. Since 2K is absolutely not my favourite distance and perhaps little opportunity to row a lot this month there's also a slight possibility it's my only entry. But I hope to get closer to my SB of 7:09.5.

Fred, given your recent CTC scores and good run of months of consistent training, I would hope to see you better your SB and even push your PB...

Well done to Fred and Dave.
I snuck up on myself with an attempt this evening. Not going to worry my PB at this rate, but plenty of the month to go for a little nibble of improvement.

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2018 / 2019
Inspired by the others and due the tradition of doing the IRL early I had a go last night.
After short warm up I thought I go out on PB pace
It went well until 700m left and I blew up and HD, but then picked it up to at least have a score. Turned out OK, although the adjusted score is rubbish as always
Temporary FSP was even 3rd for this month and ahead of FSG

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2018 / 2019
Well I have to say I thought I was going through the motions today. Two head colds in two weeks has left me feeling pretty shabby, but I wanted to make sure I posted a time, and the second half of the month is going to be pretty hectic, so I decided to give it a go.
I have to say I don't think I could have done any better in the circumstances (clearly I could do better in general - like I could beat my PB for example, which is a long way off my current pace). Anyway, I managed a 7:37.4 which is a big improvement of my previous SB of 7:52.7. I'm pleased with that and given I rowed the last 500m at HR max, I'm pretty sure I'm not going to improve on that.
Over to the rest of the team for a strong finish to the month

Captain Philip, I'm away for a few days but I will be back in plenty of time to try and match Felton's sub 7.

Team Guy:
I had my first go at the IRL 2k last night and was hoping to better my SB (7:13.0). Well, not quite:
Missed my SB by 0.2 seconds but nevertheless quite happy with this. It was good enough for an adjusted score of 6:42.1. Team Guy is now ahead of team Philip again but both teams are very evenly matched so far this month (99.64 vs. 99.38).

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2018 / 2019
Perfect timing Peter, thank you!
I'd scheduled this for today, and had a 1:48 mental target (7:12). You confirmed it
Pleased to say, despite some nerves, it went well
500 - 1:48.0 / 28 comfortable
1000 -1:48.0 / 28 going well
1500 -1:47.9 / 28 must have pulled a couple of strokes too hard!
2000 - 1:45.1 / 30 get to 300 and put in 10 solid strokes, then 'sprint'
7:08.9 and a 10s sb (nearly)
Also Team Guy.
I now have a very annoying Erg cough....

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2018 / 2019
Well Max, just like with the C2CTC (don’t forget to do that one after the IRL), I thought I provide you with an easier target than FeltonMaxMacLaren1 wrote:Captain Philip, I'm away for a few days but I will be back in plenty of time to try and match Felton's sub 7.
In both I did not get to catch that young and strong man!
However, improved my score by almost 9sec from first score entered:
That is 3s below PB from June last year and as I feel weaker these days I am happy with that!
Due to age and weight that still gives me the worst score in the team just ahead of Felton
But we are still short of some entries and month is ended soon, come on FSP!!!
Congrats to FSG as they had the top score for the month when I checked today!!

Well done FSP!!!
In the table we are currently ahead of FSG and we have a score of 100.0 for this month (so far).
Looks like Max liked the targets
Now we only lack Iain! Please don’t forget that it is only 4 days left!

Thanks for the motivation and it looks like I decided to split the difference between your times with 6:55.9! Unfortunately after 3 hours gardening there was not anything in the tank for a sprint finish. Adjusted the time is 6:24.8 which I'm happy with. Great to see FSP doing so well this month .

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2018 / 2019
Hello, great results here…Peter reminded me yesterday to do the 2k, it was on schedule for yesterday or today…and decided to do it prompt. After a very nice warmup in a short jersey with my MTB in February i did my first 2k single all out attempt for 13 years...despite the knowing that it couldnt be a pb – Tuesdays weight training – so heavy legs...i ignored the facts and go for a pb in the first 2 splits ...and the final result was a fly and die...but managed a 06:51 with very heavy legs on the end.

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2018 / 2019
Very strong 2k there Tako, well done! Only 3 seconds off your PB!
Max, next time rowing first, then the gardening
Thanks for your 2k row Claudius, this is one of the most painful splits I've ever seen But it's all for the team you know
I had a second go last night in order to chase Steve's superb 2k (7:08.9) earlier in the month. Plan was to start out at 1:50 pace for the first 400m, then get 1 second quicker every following 400m. This is how it went:
Everything went pretty much as planned and there was even something left for some kind of finish sprint. Overall happy with a new SB by 2.6 seconds, although I couldn't beat Steve's time.
As of now, FSG and FSP are very closely matched for the February challenge:
I think that's the closest for this season's IRL. But both teams still need an entry, Ralf for FSG and Iain for FSP. We'll see how the table will look like eventually, but I have a feeling that it will still be very close between both teams.

well done boys and girls
Very good row Peter, although I'm struggling to really understand how, if it went to plan, you finished slightly behind me?
You win the ctc, I win the irl. Good competition

Steve, to beat your time I would have had to find 4.3 seconds which I didn't think would be possible when I started my row. So I was happy that my plan worked out and gave me at least a new SB.Wolfmiester wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2019 1:43 pm Very good row Peter, although I'm struggling to really understand how, if it went to plan, you finished slightly behind me?

Well, that didn't go to plan. How I didn't HD I will never know. I was aiming for sub-41 but crawled over the line with 41:04.7. A SB for me, but I don't think it will be enough of an improvement to get more meta-nonathlon points. HR was horrendous for 30 of the 40 minutes. This will be my only effort of the month based on how I feel right now.

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I staggered over the finish line on Thursday with 41:09 feeling like I should have pulled sub 39:00. It's just not there at the moment.JonT wrote: ↑Sat Mar 09, 2019 1:08 pm Well, that didn't go to plan. How I didn't HD I will never know. The only thing that kept me going Plummy was the thought that it was IRL and so if I stopped I would just have to give it a go again later in the month.
