Hi all,

Standing start, no stroke rate restrictions.

I had a run through this earlier to 'log' the distance on my gym's c2. Didn't plan on going anything like full pace, and finished comfortably at 1.54 pace (2km pace +3) if that's of any interest.

That IS of interest as I had a go at this yesterday also (although the CTC hadn't flipped to Sept when I checked and was then busy/out for the rest of the day so never logged it). I managed 1:53.6 pace average (10:40.4) - although it was definitely NOT comfortable and involved 2 x "ease off" sessions and scarily, quite a bit of lactic build up which is a rarity for me.

Jinxed myself completely with yesterday's row, and could pace it at all today so settled for a recovery mix today.

Well done to all early starters! For everyone else I recommend you do not follow my approach...
Step 1, Input your best 2k and 5k times in the Pace Predictor.
Step 2, Go
Step 3, Try it anyway and HD half way through .

First proper attempt, not enough of a warm up but still turned out ok. I'd hazard Dave could top this with rested lungs.

That said, 4.5s under the patented Maclaren estimator Image - perhaps the interactive plan is having an impact....

Nice one Ian, very solid row =D>

The problem with Max's predictions are that his 5, 6 and 10k times are excellent compared with his 2k and below.
Sorry Max, you'll need to revisit your 2k

Nice row Tako =D>. Normally you are faster at shorter distances and I am faster at longer ones so it will be an interesting month. The battle of the middle!

 I am giving all the credit to Thomas! Impressive row =D> and does it mean you may have some extra 2k and 5k Nonathlon points in the tank

I do find the shorter distances really really hard! Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) any attempts will have to wait a few days because I've twisted my ankle :(

Max I'll move over and make a spot on the bench. We can compare ankle taping techniques

1st attempt: decided not do do anything too crazy so plan was to sit on 1:48 for 2500m and see if I had a sprint finish. Forgot to take a photo but 500m splits were roughly 1:47.? down to 1:46.? with about 1:42 for the final 318m

2818m - 10:01.1

Just edged out Tako for now but I'm sure he'll come back with another target for me

I had a bone to pick with a certain Mr. Wolfmiester who had beaten my first attempt of 10:52.6 by almost 17 seconds  I had a second go yesterday and managed an improvement down to 10:37.8, but still not good enough to beat Steve (10:35.8 ).

So a third attempt was required which happened today. Plan was to start sub 1:54 for the first 1k and then see if I can speed up from there. This is how it went:

Felt much better today and there was even a little finish sprint, might have another go in the near future. But for now, over to you Steve 8)

Excellent effort Mr Grobi (I see we are on formal terms now :-) )
That will be a challenge, but one I'm at least willing to try...

Plucked up courage for my first serious attempt at anything between 500 & 30 mins. Intended to hold 2:03 and try and speed up later, First attempt I stopped before 1/3 distance, but after a recovery row, tried again. Struggled to find a rhythm and was much too fast from 300 - 1200, nearly handled down again, but decided to continue to the end to help prepared for next attempt. Picked up at 2:05 pace. Slowly increased and picked up pace in earnest counting strokes for the final 500 for a quicker pace that 2k SB so far.
Time Distance Rating Pace
02:01.7 500 27 02:01.7
02:01.1 500 26 02:01.1
02:02.6 500 26 02:02.6
02:03.1 500 25 02:03.1
02:02.1 500 26 02:02.1
01:13.7 318 31 01:55.9
11:24.3 2,818 26.5 02:01.4

Well held Iain. Not too far off 2:00 splits overall. It always feel good when you were 100% going to quit but manage after a little slow down (which only costs a few seconds overall usually) to grind it out to the finish.

Well played everybody so far with 5 boats floated Image
2nd attempt for me with a more aggressive pacing plan and a target of sub 1:45/500m

Wow, thanks for killing my motivation to have another go at this with your great score Felton!
With Morten and Jonathan still out there I better wait and see.

You've beaten me the last two months Tako so I'm hoping to get the upper hand this time Image

Legs were sore from the off. Managed to turn it up a bit towards the end which suggests I could have started a bit more ambitiously perhaps but I'm not sure I'll get another shot this month.

Loving the friendly competition in the thread & well done Iain for toughing it out, much respect for not HDing.

Great row Guy, almost human even compared to your recent efforts
