That's bang on your estimate on your first go, so I reckon you're well within your capabilities there. Could be a 'fun' month...

Well done everyone indeed ImageImageImage

Definitely not "well within" - not even close. That was very definitely ragged edge type stuff and may not be betterable!

Attempt 2.

I set out to nibble away at my previous distances, and it was all feeling good (with negative split) until rep 5, when reality came calling.

Not looking forward to any future repeats...Image

I think Dave might be recovering from a severe case of shock

Great row and looks like an impressive 4.4s below 1k time.

Yes - I was somewhat taken aback at that. Effectively midway between 500 and 1km, possibly giving me a cause to think my 1km time is a little flabby.

August ctc - 6 x 1' / 1'r, rolling starts except #1

Well not sure to be honest. Not sure whether it is the heat or the 2 weeks vacation break, but definitely not as strong as a few weeks ago....

After blowing up in my PP session today (aiming at a strong 30min) I thought I could try the C2CTC again after paddling it yesterday as cool down and the start went great and I aimed for Max time :-)
While being at a 0.1 faster pace than him in the first 4 legs I blew up in the middle of the 5th and the 6th was even only @1:50 pace.....

With fresh legs more should be possible..... I hope!!Image

I am sure there is .

But a very good row especially after your earlier PP attempt. Well done on completing the last rep because it would have been easy to HD and you have posted a time faster than you predicted. I wish someone had created a formula to take heat and humidity into account. Something like 1s pace slower for each 4c above 21c plus 1s pace slower for each 10 degrees above 60 degree humidity!

After the disastrous pacing on my first attempt, I had another crack at this today. Managed a pretty even pace aiming to stay at or below 1:45. I managed 1:44.6 and an improvement of 66m to give 1721.

I'm on your tail Plummy, but honestly think that is my best shot at this. Maybe one last go at the end of the month if I am feeling strong and mighty

At the bottom of the table, on holiday at weekend so got a time in. Unfortunately my PM3 stuck on 8S to go before rep 5 and I missed at least a second and had a standing start as a consequence on that one. Rushed too much to regain npace and legs gave out before half way into final rep. Still managed my target of a mile - exactly. If I haven't lost pace I will have another go at the end of the month.

I was on vacation and came back from it last week with a sinus imflammation, so there hasn't been much serious rowing for about four weeks.
Tried this one this morning and ended out with 1769 meters. I hope to get back on track a bit more and see whether something more towards 300 meters is possible.

Holidays, plus I think that people are a bit shaken by Roger's news regarding Gillian.

Welcome back Fred! Strong result for someone not 100% fit.
Beterschap!

Will be interesting to see how results improve in the second half of the challenge for everyone. My wife had a second go and improved slightly but I am afraid she will end up on shore again unless more people give it a go.

Max has so far being quiet, but I realised it would be naive to think that he won’t notice that I overtook him, so I am afraid I will have to give it another go as well later this month, although I would prefer not to.

Didn't really feel like the gym this morning but glad I forced myself to get this out of the way. Not really in any danger of troubling boat 1 but felt like a reasonably solid effort

This morning I finished the challenge, earlier this week I stopped after 3 or 4 reps. Those were attempts after working all day, not really serious. Today I felt I had to row it to the end. Which was hard. The fifth and sixth were terrible. I was aiming for 1800 meters. Simple, every rep at least 300 mtr. Succeeded, but those last two reps, again, they were hard.
I'm still not sure about the best stroke rate for me in jthis challenge. Perhaps some more experimenting the next week. Ended up with 1820 meter. Ok.

Wow, that was close!

So I guess you will have another go at this before the month is over? Forcing me to do the same ;-)

With Morten and Dan still pending it might be necessary to stay in boat Nr.2
