Thanks Claudius, but even in perfect shape I have no chance in catching you or Felton. Too fast for me on such a long distance. You are both simply much more fit and athletic than this big guy.
So I cannot hide behind my current state. Your efforts are simply too good

I had a second attempt today, almost 2 sec/500m faster than last time: from 2:10.2 to 2:08.3 average.
It won't trouble Jan (who is yet to post a score) but may spur Jon P to have another go.

Great improvement Rodger, looks like you're getting to grips with the pacing for this one and there may be more to come?
I'll only feel untroubled once I've posted a time and it's into July

Some very good rowing indeed. Unfortunately I didn't feel to good after the first week, so no chance for a second serious attempt. Let's see what happens. Goodluck everyone with the attempts to follow.

Too hot and too many other things going on. So decided to do the 10k today instead of HM. No chance of getting near last year's SB set in winter. 45:49.5 :(
Hope the Australians are icing it. Good luck everyone. I see some inspired competition going on.

Some good times coming in from everyone (myself excepted), but only three boats afloat so far this month. Any chance of the remaining ladies having a bash? [-o< [-o<

I hadn't rowed much the last days but yesterday felt ok again, a Pete Plan workout which felt pretty good, so I decided today was the day for my next attempt (I'm rowing on water now twice a week in a barge/sloop, hard to make the C2 meters then as well).
Feeling confident I looked up my PB which was 38:10.6 (in 2009). Well, that was close to Tako's time for the CTC. And then the 38 minute border isn't far away anymore as well. To cut things short, I finished in 37:59.0.
I started out thinking that if I didn't make it I could get some extra Nonathlon points for my 5k or 6k, which leave room for improvement. After the 6k there were a couple of moments when I thought of quitting but I also thought I wouldn't have the nerve to try it again might this attempt fail. During the 9th K I slowed down a little just to make sure I wouldn't fail during the last K. The last 300 meters I made sure I would finish within the 38 minutes. No cheering when I finished, it was hard to stay upright.
I'm sure my beating Tako won't last very long. As for my PB, well, this might be the last one. Also quite satisfied by the way with the 93rd percentile in C2's Ranked Workouts.

That's a massive 10k PB Fred, well done! Looking at the split it seems you paced it perfectly, not much left for a finish sprint (as it should be  :fswink: ).
