I spent over 4 hours in meetings yesterday (to do with my apartment and related issues), so I was in no humour to hop on an erg after that. I will be travelling tomorrow, so will be unable to do any erging (unless a fit of madness overcomes me when I get home around 9 pm).

But I did manage to get just over 11k done today and have completed 22 days out of 26, so I will hopefully get the challenge completed (ideally with a day to spare). Well done to everyone else who is still in the running.

Happy to report I’ve completed the challenge yesterday :-) I did 15 easy km after a day on the sea...it really helped! With today it’s now 26 out of 26 so I’m now targeting the full month

Good afternoon my ‘ heroic hearties ‘ - I hope that you didn’t find last night’s supper of yet more ship’s biscuits too boring? I admit that the weevils were a bit chewy but with rations now running on the low side, at least they were a source of much needed protein. =P~

Some superb seamanship has already brought Massi, Jonny, Tako and Paul G, back into safe harbour. 8) 8) 8) 8) =D> =D> =D> =D> ^O^ ^O^ ^O^ ^O^

A special mention for Tako on being awarded his fourth Gold Star: 4,000,000 x :) =D>

Not many nautical knots to go for the rest of our Fantastic Flotilla - we can all see dry land away on the horizon. I know that it has been tough going, with everyone putting in a great deal of effort, so unless it’s for absolutely unavoidable reasons, then please try not to quit now, at this stage of the challenge. :(

Do not give in. Do not give up. It will only lead to disappointment and regret. Oh, and to being cross with yourself. #-o :(

We were away the week-end before last and did not return home until the Monday afternoon, by which time I was feeling very tired - two late nights and too much talking had taken their toll on this ‘ lark ‘. All I wanted to do was lie down on the sofa and … Zzzzzzz ... To heck with the rowing! [-X

Below, is an extract from the following conversations with the ‘ Boss ‘ . :fswink:

Richard, “ I thought you were going on the rower? “
Me, “ In a minute. :^o
Richard, “ Are you going on the rower? “
Me, “ In a minute. :^o
Richard, “ Get out on the rower. Now. “ ( the brute   )
Me, “ In a minute. :^o
Richard, “ You will regret it if you don’t. “

That hit the target.

Me, “ I’m going.

After today’s row, only four more to go for me - not going anywhere over the Easter week-end, so I’m feeling confident about finishing on Saturday as scheduled.

What better incentive then to row for chocolate. :D

Egging you all on to the finish. :)

Thank you very much Jill!

Hang in there! we are all cheering for you and all the others so close to the finish!
With Richard’s support I am sure you can make it, as I agree with him that you would regret not to finish after coming so close!!

Keeping fingers crossed for all that have the finish in site! Keep free from injuries, distractions or other stuff that could bring you off course!!

Thanks Jill :D

This morning was a rather torturous 10km, interrupted by the cat thrice: breakfast request at 5am, release from "confinement" (as any cat owner will recognise) request at 5.05am and request for safe return to the sofa at 5.10am. I really must find somewhere out of the way of the cat to erg #-o

One more to go, but may well see out the month.

Good luck everyone =D> =D>

Which is more than can be said for my rowing today. #-o I did ten minutes warm up and then headed off on the CTC. It just wasn't happening and I bailed after a couple of minutes and did a just row to get my 10K done for the day. 23 down, 2 to go.

I decided to do an "Hour of Power" to finish off the challenge. My SB was a fairly soft 14103 and I figured I should be able to do it in under 2:05 pace. I did slightly better than this, finishing with 14555m @ 2:03.7 pace. Happy enough with this, considering I did a fairly full on 10k yesterday. I think I'll probablty take tomorrow off unless I decide to have another crack at this month's CTC.

PS: I tried adding my certificate, but I got a message telling me the file's too large. :?

It was a great pleasure to see that almost all of our Indefatigable Flotilla has returned to safe harbour. :D

Ian and Paul. 8) 8) =D> =D> ^O^ ^O^

Jan and Sheena. 8) 8) =D> =D> ^O^ ^O^ Sheena, while out on the high seas, I hope that you did not allow Jan to indulge in a little bit of Dutch privateering? [-X I have always been suspicious of his rather blatant Avatar ... :-k Mmmm ... :fswink:

Ian, I trust that you didn’t sustain any serious injury when you crashed into the jetty? Good luck with trying to persuade the Master at Arms that unfortunately, you were momentarily distracted by the sharp attentions of a hungry ship’s cat … :fswink:

Well done to all who have completed or about to complete this challenge =D> =D> .
I found this challenge very motivational and has got me back on track.
I completed Day 31 of the 10,000m challenge this morning - I have managed to log my highest monthly total for over 5 years(468k, 430 of which has been at 300+ DF), and though I feel I have lost a bit of speed, I am certainly a lot stronger than a month ago.

Well done Paul and well done everyone that has completed the challenge! I’ve completed 31 days too and feel just great. I did 15km each of the last 3 days and every time I did a PB on that distance. But looking at others people pace....boy I’m still so slow :-( plenty to work on!

Hey all, congratulations!
I did it too. Quite sure it was Jill’s poem that got me through the last 5 k and to my Nova Scotian wharf! Thanks for the encouragement.
Now just a few more k to go and I will be at .5 million meters, after starting on the rower in October.

All safely back and in dry dock now, my ‘ Hearts of Oak Hearties ‘ - I hope it wasn’t too painful having the barnacles scraped off your bottoms.

Thank you for being such supportive and enthusiastic company - I think I would probably have dropped out if I’d been doing the challenge on my own - sometimes it can be a little bit lonely out there on the virtual ocean.

Only 68,444m to row for you to reach 1,000,000m for the season. It’s doable. 8)

Sally, like everyone else who took part in the challenge, it was you who got yourself through. :) =D>
