Grobi wrote: Wed Nov 15, 2017 5:15 pm Can't wait to see your result Steve! I had another go yesterday with the plan of doing the first three reps at the average pace from my previous try (1:48.8 ) and then see what's left in the final interval.

This is how it went:

1:47.5 / 31
1:47.5 / 31
1:47.4 / 31
1:44.4 / 33

Total: 10:40.3 / 1:46.7 (was 10:45.1)

Quite pleased with that! When I entered it I noticed that I missed moving up into FS2 by a tenth of a second  So I guess I'll have to have another go although I'm not really looking forward to it as this one already was pretty hard.
Nice improvement Peter ^O^ ^O^ .
Decided to tentatively dip my toes into the water on this one today.
Conscious of the fact that my back is not 100% yet, and having done a Crazy Bear HM earlier today, I intended to push fairly hard but not kill myself.
I had your time in my mind as a target(your previous effort of 1:47.5 - I had forgotten that you had bettered it).
Landed up pushing too hard(as per usual) but realised that it hurt no matter what pace you are rowing at.

Tale of the tape :

1. 2:40.5 @ 1:47.0 spm 32
2. 2:36.5 @ 1:44.3 spm 32
3. 2:34.6 @ 1:43.0 spm 33
4. 2:32.6 @ 1:41.7 spm 34

Total : 10:24.1

This was on DF 215, which in retrospect was a little too high for sprinty stuff.

My god you boys are fully on it  =D> ^O^

here's my feeble attempt.
Targeted 1:52 (which I thought would be conservative(ish) for 3 reps, then a quicker last.
1 - 1:51.8 comfortable
2 - 1:51.5 not too bad
3 - 1:51.9 held back a bit. ready for the last
4 - 1.51.1 set off fine, then wimped out and HD with 300 to go. Lack of practice full stop (first row since 11/10) and certainly lack of hard stuff is not good for the mind.
Ave 1:51.6
But at least I'm now beginning to think about getting back to some hard stuff
Still enjoying the running whilst the weather is ok (5m/8k in the legs from yesterday)

Very strong row Paul, especially when considering that you did it after a HM earlier in the day plus a non fully recovered back! =D>

Nice first marker there Steve! I wonder where your start of wondering about thinking where considering the possibility of returning to hard stuff might lead to :D

Nice rowing all of you. You beat me by 0.1 second Paul, but considering you were not at your best (your words) I don't think it will help much if I try to beat that. No doubt when you really want you can go even faster.

Had my fourth go at this today with the plan of doing the first three reps at my previous average (1:46.7) with a fast last. This is how it went:

1 / 1:46.6 / 31
2 / 1:46.6 / 31
3 / 1:46.4 / 31
4 / 1:43.3 / 33

Total: 10.34.7 / 1:45.7 (was 10:40.3)

Very happy with and a bit surprised by an improvement of 5.6 seconds :D Every rep was quite tough but also every rest period was just long enough to reload the batteries. Should I have another go? There are still 13 days of November left...

Day off work so what better way to start it right than 4x750r3? It was actually not as terrible as anticipated, but maybe because I was working on trying to stay higher on the rate (only got to 30-32) and ignoring the splits somewhat. Gotta work on the rating, have been doing distance work.

Have to run to the dentist for the next exciting adventure...

Great job all!! Glad to see Jane pop up out there!

Hello...a big Bravo for all finishers here :!: ...while i experienced 2 HD this week in my 3rd and 4th attempt  in the gym...easy game for this demon  "look around you fool..nobody makes such a nonsene you do...just quit...come on...and so i did this Handle down thing. Today everything went well in my 5th attempt without letting the demon win again  .

At home with my favourite music the HD Demon is not that strong...this time i chose Hans Zimmer live in Prague and the track was from Gladiator "the battle"

this are the splits:

Thanks, Paul :!: Yes, I guess it´s a good indicator for some progress, whereas "the bad" would be getting more and more tired without no imminent recovery possible... :?

Nice performances folks. =D> =D> =D>

I hope to have a go at this before month end, but likely to be extremely slow. My shoulder is a bit sore after doing the IRL yesterday, so I may wait a couple of days before doing it.

1st row since doing last month's CTC on October 23rd Image
Went off too fast as usual but actually felt ok at the end of the first rep. Deterioration of fitness really showing by the end. Did a 6344m cool down in 26:57.6 to at least post a score for the IRL

I finally got around to doing the CTC today. I decided 1:55 pace should be manageable and did the first interval at 1:54.2 pace. With the flying start, I managed 1:53.6 pace for the 2nd interval and pushed a bit harder on the third where I managed 1:52.1 pace. I'd not a lot left for a 'fast last', but managed a marginal improvement to 1:52.0 pace. Overall 11:18.1 @ 1:53.0 pace.

Nothing to write home about, but at least I got an entry in. Jennifer has said she will try to have a go on Thursday as we need one more female to float boat VII. I may have another go myself, if my back doesn't react badly to today's effort.

Glad your back held up and allowed you to submit a score Paul. =D>

Mine has been acting up a bit as well. Strange thing is there's only a few things that really bother it and rowing happens to be one of them. Doesn't hurt so much while rowing but when I'm done and stand up it tends to lock up and is really uncomfortable. Eventually goes away with some stretching but really don't want to push my luck. Was hoping to have another go at this since I only did one and it was a rate restricted effort but discretion will be the better part of valor this time.

Recently purchased an Assault Bike which provides a heck of a workout and agrees with my back.

Nice work by all who took part this month! ^O^

Had a last minute effort tonight with the aim of doing the first three reps at last time‘s average (1:45.7) and then a fast last (if possible). Well, that was the plan and this is how it went:

1:45.6 / 31 / 171
1:45.8 / 31 / 179
1:45.7 / 31 / 182
1:44.2 / 33 / 185

Total: 10:32.1 / 1:45.3 (was 10:34.7)

That was tough! The first rep felt so hard that I considered handling down in the rest period. But then I told myself to at least try the second rep, hopefully the rolling start would make it easier? It did indeed and after the second rep I was half way through. Come on, one more rep and then it‘s already the last one! Rep #3 was of course tough as well but it helped tremendously knowing that I was ahead of my old score at this stage. Problem with the final rep was that I had to row a 1:43.4 pace to keep that gain, anything slower would reduce it. I tried, but I couldn‘t hold a pace near that, ended up with giving away 1.2 seconds in the last bit. Nevertheless I managed an overall improvement by 2.6 seconds and that was all I could do today. Legs still feeling jelly as I‘m writing this but happy nonetheless :D

Managed to get this in for the month, not what I was hoping for but it is a time - 11:20.7. I went out the first two reps where I expected to be, then the last two were where I really am at this point.

2:44.2 750m 1:49.4 267 1217 30

2:57.9 750m 1:58.6 210 1021 27
