How's this going to work? By this I mean posting out metres and watching the total rise?

Think we'll probably do it by running a thread and getting people to post up their meters and a running total as they go. (assuming everyone can reach a PC within one hour of completition of their session - if not UK people can probably text me their result and I'll update)

Is it Friday and five to five already??? "I'm so excited I could wrestle an actionman" - Stu Francis was cr@p anyway. Bring back Bernie Clifton and the ostrich!

Quiz:
As i live in GMT+1 and my slot is at GMT 21:00-22:00, that means i can post my result only at GMT+1 23:00, is that right an OK?

thanks,
Eddes

I am sure we'll cope - but if you text Mike he can post your metres in "real time". Normally I would offer this service, but I have a staff "do" that night and you know what teachers are like.

I think a thread is the right plan. I have toyed with writing a custom totaliser-type thing, but it would take too long and a thread will serve just as well. If we do this regularly I may write a totaliser app. Mind you, JL could probably knock one up in half an hour. He's pretty hot stuff on this totalising stuff!

Create a new thread, with an imaginative time like "Results"

Use the schedule we already have...people copy the latest and edit their results as they do it.

At the end, we whack it into Excel to get the total.

Or we could get Mr Lemon to automatically figure out which entries to extract from people's online logs and do it for us....

OK, have a request people.

Mr Bartman from New Zealand is a great rower and Free Spirit and would like a slot or two. He'll be posting on here at some point soon to say what times are best for him. Can we shuffle around to fit him in. (Suspect that being in NZ. he'll want late night/early morning slots in UK time)

I'm happy to give up some of my slots to make this happen. (13:00 on 13th, 14:00 and 15:00 on 15th). Can any of you guys help?

I need help with the timezone math to see how this works for Bartman, but I might be able to give up 1 of my
02:00 GMT: Rita (21:00 EST) slots.

There was some mention of last minute subs, perhaps we could put that list in a separate thread where it would be easier to find.

Dear Bartman,

you can have one of the Wednesday or Friday slots:
times are 00:00 GMT or 1:00 GMT. One on each day or two on one day works. Just leave my three hour slot Thu in place....!

I can take one or both of Ironarse's Provisional spots for 4:00 GMT (which would be 8PM for me) and/or take that final piece that MaxDev has to row at 20:00 GMT. Whatever, whichever. Let me know and I'll help out, this sounds like fun.

Tom - it would be great if you could grab my 2 provisional spots - I am only likely to manage about 27km at best which is a bit slow and the more people involved the better - just replace my name with yours in those slots.

Done and done, Paul. My Wednesday and Thursday nights at 8PM through til 9PM, on the dot, for one hour. I can do this. I'll row much earlier in the day at low low rates for my other amounts to get a decent set of metres for these, no problem. So that covers your provisionals for Thursday 4:00 GMT and Friday 4:00 GMT. I *think* that's the correct math. <stares at the digital clock on the computer 1:04 AM> Yeah, that didn't help. :o

Just want to get more involved and find more reasons to row. If a man loses his will to row, he is rowless. And, by the way, read your profile. Great comeback, man. Very damned inspiring. Thank you!

Thanks for that Tom.
It just feels good to be healthy again - thanks in no small measure to the rowing and to getting involved with FS - the people in this team really motivate each other - it is also good to see how the real distance fundis go about things. My occasional marathons and longer rows look pretty tame compared with the distances you put out!

Happy Rowing

Happy rowing to you as well, Paul. Your production is exceptional, and not another word. Only being a few days in and the members here have completely awed me. I may have to actually stay another season...or two...or three. For the first time in a long time, there is a real goal, and that's what I'm all about. So glad you are doing well, and, really, much much better than well. 8)

To the team:
3 days of straight rowing, globally, in our homes, in our cars, or in the gyms. Sweet. So in.

Do I have this right?

Tom Barrick now has Iron ar$e's slots at 04:00 GMT on both 14th and 15th December.

Rita is prepared to give up one or more of her 02:00 GMT slots to BARTMAN.

Boris Z is also prepared to let BARTMAN have one or more of his slots.

For now I have changed the list to include Tom but markd BARTMAN as an alternative to Rita only. It would be useful if these could be confirmed please.

I have left MaxDev with the anchor leg. I am trusting that if we get that far and need the odd 17k or so, then he will deliver.

17k?! More likely to be high 14s/low 15s from me, regardless of how much is needed - feeling I should be able to hit 15k or get close to it now in most/all of my sessions, depending how much other stuff I'm doing...

I've already voiced my (minor) doubts about being on the anchor leg, but as I said, I really don't think we're going to be THAT close to the target... based on the incomplete estimates we were doing earlier, it looked like we might hit the million with an hour or two to spare :D

And with people of the calibre of Bartman and Tom Barrick stepping in, things can only get better, as they say
