Fall team challenge
Hi everyone,
I have just confirmed our entry into the fall team challenge which begins on Sept 15. I hope as many of you as possible will sign up. As always though, its strictly voluntary via the team tab in your c2 logbook. If you have any problems let me know and I will try to help.
Good luck
Stan

Joi Bear and Richard are really missed with their many meters. With them we might be back at the top of the list....

Re: Fall team challenge
Tako - confession time. Jill and I have been in Newquay with the Diamonds IRT setting world records for the 100k relay men's and women's heavyweight 60-69 large teams. They have just been ratified by C2 so visible on their web site. Jill is rowing today but I am so k-------d that it will be tomorrow before a semblance of normal service is resumed - there is nothing but rubber in my legs!

Re: Fall team challenge
That's great news Jill and Richard, well done! It would be great if you could add those meters to the FTC. We are currently back in first place but who knows how long it will last?

Re: Fall team challenge
Thank you Barbara. Rock Star? Mmmm … Don’t have the hair or the figure for it but if you insist, I’ll borrow Ian’s Gibson and start practising. Unfortunately, this mother does not take after her talented son.
I forgot to mention though, that The Pink Star Socks were lovingly packed, lovingly worn and then lovingly laundered. They were then carefully wrapped in their tissue paper and put away ( out to retirement this time I think ) but not with my ‘ common and garden ‘ black and navy ones. No way!
Barbara I’ll try and do some sort of write up - I was so proud to take part in the challenge but I can’t pretend that over the months, the worry of it all, hasn’t caused me some major brain malfunctions.
Happy Birthday to you AGAIN and best wishes for a celebratory Birthday Weekend.
Tako and Peter, it would be impossible for Richard and I to know our exact meterage.
The ladies ( 11 of us ) all rowed reps of approximately 200 metres and the men ( 13 of them ) all rowed reps of approximately 20 strokes.
We will do our best to add to the metres for the Fall Challenge although we still have various commitments that will prevent us from adding as many as we would have liked.
Well done to those of you who have been able to take part in the challenge.

Re: Fall team challenge
Well done Jill and Richard! I know how tough those events are. Take it easy until you feel fewer aches and pains.
I think I entered my meters from last year's event. If I remember correctly, I worked out the average distance rowed by the male members of the team and rounded it down a bit. I figure that's within the spirit of the challenge and within the spirit of the meter board. But it's up to you. If you don't feel comfortable doing that, then leave it be.
Congratulations again! Sorry I couldn't be there with you.

Very nice high average per participating FS. The FIRT are only in front as they are many more signed-up.jhaveman wrote:Looks like we're 2nd in the FTC ranking, well done everybody and let's keep rowing!
For my part it helps to be hunted by Paul and Patrick in the Meterboard

With regard to the metres, I know that I must have rowed 9,000 but for peace of mind I'm going to add 8,000. if any one else is not happy with this, i have no objections about leaving them off.
Richard doesn't feel comfortable about including his metres, it's a psychological thing - adding imprecise info to his various spreadsheets would be very difficult for him.
Thank you Jan and Sheena.
We are looking forward to receiving our His and Her Certificates. Of course a certain individual in the Underwood household, has one already ...

Re: Fall team challenge
I'm glad you've decided to enter your metres (or some of them) Jill. I understand where Richard is coming from and I totally respect his decision. We all have to do what we feel most comfortable with.
I'm afraid I have been conspicuous by my absence from this year's challenge. But I managed to do 20 minutes today (first time back on the erg since my lumbar injection) and covered a miserable 4,630m at just under 2:10 pace.
My reason for getting on the erg today was to see how my back holds up. I'm off to Alvor tomorrow for ten days and there's no point in bringing gym gear with me if I'm not able to do any erging.

A little bump.
Still second in the team rankings - the average FS distance is above last year's though

Re: Fall team challenge
Age Without Limits are suddenly right on our tails only 150km behind our total. If anyone is training today, maybe adding a couple of km extra paddling would help.
It would be a shame to be bumped into 3rd on the last day!

Re: Fall team challenge
I've had this nagging feeling all morning, that AWL have a fiendish plot up their sleeves.
Plummy if we have to go down, then let's go down fighting. I have a few jobs to do ( posting the Newquay write up though, will have to wait until tomorrow now ) but then put me down for another 10,000m - they most definitely will be paddled.

Re: Fall team challenge
Thanks for taking up the call to arms Jill. I was going to paddle a 10k as my legs are shredded but bumped it up to 13932m to get to a round 220,000m for the challenge. As a result my legs are not speaking to me any more.
I'm inclined to agree about the plot though...

Re: Fall team challenge
An apology for not contributing many metres to the Fall Challenge - I was laid low by a virus thingy and today (16th and one day too late) is my first day back. As it happens it looks as though we beat AWL by 200k or so unless they have a cunning plan to log something late........
