I didn't think I was capable of what I did this morning, so another 7 meters seems like miles for me. But, the duration of the challenge combined with the training done by some more CTC's, let's see what happens. And it's perfect for the team ofcourse
Thanks Fred,
I am hoping to get to the 350m mark this month, and I think you will do the same.
This season the competition is good for FS - there are quite a few of us quite evenly matched which is helping the team score.

Had my second go at this today. I moved the DF up to 160 and managed to improve by 12m to 326m @ 1:32.0 pace. Ideally, I'd like to get to 1:30 pace by month end, but that may be a tad optimistic.

Paul G, I think you'll break this very soon, and Paul V, I was quite convinced I couldn't make it to this pace, surpirise yourself and go below 1:30 :fswink:

And a great row from Mr Victory =D> =D> - your comeback is gathering momentum.

End of the month is coming and only 6 scores so far, Peter and Felton, too busy with PP and 30min???
Looks also like we lost calalli, no score since November.
Barbara, I know that you probably have more important stuff to spent your time on, hope things are moving still on the right direction, but maybe 1 min sprint helps to release some frustration/anger?

Good post Tako, you are right, my focus is the PP and getting ready for my 30 minutes race. A 1 minute sprint doesn‘t really fit into my current training regime but I will give it a go next weekend :fswink:

It‘s a shame we lost calalli, I hope he isn‘t injured! Like you say, Barbara has more important things to mind, but I do hope she finds the time for a decent 1 minute sprint. Should move us forward in the team ranking considerably!

Ok Tako did the one minute today Image
Thought I would try to go quite hard without potentially injuring myself and managed 336m. This was basically as fast as I could go while doing a normal rowing stroke; to go faster would probably involve shorter half strokes but I'm not going there Image Happy with the result

Great, thanks for scoring Felton. It puts us on the fourth place of the month. I think we're likely to end up a little lower, but not bad anyway. Personally I'm still not completely fit so there will be no attempt from me the coming days.

We're down to six now I'm afraid with the perspective of dropping even further if I look at the current score of 88.28, our weakest for this IRL season so far.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to better that score. I had a first attempt after the ctc on Saturday with 312m. I thought I could probably better that with fresh legs and had a second go on Sunday which resulted in 313m  Well, the good news is that we have enough good scores (Barbara had posted an excellent adjusted 369m for example) so my result didn't do any harm to the team score

I wasn't going to have another go at this but the cry of help above made me think - every metre counts - so did a full race warm up (not done one of those for a while!) and moved the damper up and the plate to five holes showing.

Managed (somewhat surprisingly) a 6 metre improvement to 311m - hope that helps as I'm not doing it again!! :-)

That might actually be a PB - but I'd have to look back through my entire history of static start 1 mins to check

That was a brilliant score Dave! =D> It did help with the team score, now up to 88,46 from 88,28, unfortunately nevertheless down to spot #7 in the team ranking. Never mind, I think this sprinting stuff simply isn‘t our cup of tea, we‘ll be back with February‘s 2k challenge

If I could rate up (I was only high 30's) I could maybe squeak another couple of metres out of a minute - but I doubt any more...

First thought of going for a faster time at the CTC but then decided to do the febraury distance of the IRL, 2k, which is one of my least favourite distances. As my signature says, I've never been sub 7, though the rest of my scores in the past indicated I should have been able to. Anywayz, I rowed it and it was the fastest one in 6 years, so I'm ok with the time, 7:14.1.
The IRL site is not quite up to date I think, I could enter my results but it said something about the 2K of january... and there are no results to be seen yet.

Well done Fred!
I had two first attempts at the start of the month and could not enter a score before I saw your post here.
However, although we can enter the score the tables are not updated for anyone.
Would not surprise me if the one who maintains it all on his own got struck by the flue and hence has/had little time to set it up or fix it.
Hopefully we will manage to collect 8 scores. For those that have not done this yet, please keep in mind that February is short ;-)

Forgot to mention that so far I got to a 7:17.8.
Trying hard to catch up on the Meterboard these days hence no real speed available since my second cold this winter. Not that I would ever catch Ralf but my Season goal of 7k a day is at risk.

Well done, Tako, considering you had to cope with two colds.
Let's see whether the IRL site will be up and running for february before the end of the month.
When you look at the current month results now they have three months mixed up.

Well done Fred and Tako for your 2ks! =D> I'm currently focusing on middle distance stuff because of my 30 minutes race next Saturday. But once that's out of the way I'll give it a go because it looks like real fun :^o Hopefully the site will be fixed by then too.

I had a go at this yesterday. Based on my 1k last week and applying Paul's Law, I figured somewhere around 1:54 pace should be achievable. I managed to maintain a fairly steady pace throughout, although I struggled a bit after the 1500m mark and had to do a mad final sprint to get back close to my overall target. Finished in 7:36.2, which is exactly 5 seconds per 500m slower than my 3:38.1 time for the 1000m.

Splits were as follows:

Split Time Pace Rating Heart Rate
500 1:54.2 1:54.2 33 143
500 1:54.6 1:54.6 35 151
500 1:54.8 1:54.8 37 158
500 1:52.7 1:52.7 39 163

2000 7:36.2 1:54.1 36 153

Just found out that this month's results can now be entered and seen on the site. Up to now only two of the team have entered their result, we have about ten days left.

I wasn't really sure what to expect and how to pace this one after my focus had been on middle distance stuff for the past seven weeks. Seems I got the pacing spot on :D

Had a first go at this after my 8k @ 26spm on Monday and got a 7:40 and change for a "get a score on the board". Tonight I did a more correct race warm up and went out a lot harder and managed a 7:27.0 (rounded up from 7:26.9) which I think is my second best 2k of the season.

Cooled down with a 5k @ 20:39.6 for some extra metres
