This wasn't pretty:
Perversely, this was a faster pace than my 5km PB
Well done everyone - lots of great times.

You know what you have to do now, don't you? Well done on the improvement though!
Had a third go last night and improved to 22:58.6 (1:54.8 ), details on the SB thread. That should give Alan, Paul, Dave and Steve a nice new target to think about

Very strong effort, Peter
I think that any hopes I may have harboured about getting close to your time has now been well and truly blown out of the water - I will be happy to get within 30 seconds of your new mark!!
Ian, brilliant row from you as well - you look to be in great form at the moment.

Hi Peter that is a great time, the last time I beat that (22:52.8 ) I was as a young man of 63 !Grobi wrote:- You know what you have to do now, don't you? Well done on the improvement though!

I am struggling to beat 24 mins at the moment, so I think you are safe from me at least.
Bravo

Well done Alan, you were quicker than you thought you'd be Especially in warm conditions. Maybe you have another go when it's cooler? I think then 23.30 is on the cards

Re: September ctc - 6k unrestricted
As promised, I did a very slow 6k today. My only target was to finish, although I did think I would be able to get under 2:10 pace. Managed to do it in 26:10.4 @ 2:10.8 pace for possibly my slowest ever 6k. Leaves me ashore in boat V - need some more ladies to complete the challenge, please.

Re: September ctc - 6k unrestricted
I see we now have a 5th boat floating thanks to Cecili - a debutante I think.
I won't be troubling the scorers again this month. I had my lumbar injection today and was instructed to wait two weeks before getting back on the erg. It's too early to say whether the injection will have the desired effect, but feeling a bit woozy after the anaesthetic.

Yes, finally I convinced my better half to join the fun of indoor rowing. Although that also means that I will have to share the ErgPaul Victory wrote:I see we now have a 5th boat floating thanks to Cecili - a debutante I think.
Not sure though why her meters don't show up on the Meterboard.

Hi Tako, welcome to your better half! If she is Cecilie S L on the C2 website then she is registered for FS in the fall team challenge. This is separate from setting your affiliation to FS on the C2 website, which links you to the meterboard.

Ah well spotted Tako. Well done to your wife for completing the 6k, when we first started rowing we thought a 2k was hard enough and had doubts about going to longer distances any time soon

Re: September ctc - 6k unrestricted
Had my fourth go at this last night with a result of 22:36.8 (was: 22:58.6) which provided me a (certainly for a very short time only) seat in FS II. Happy with that although Tako will kick me out of FS II as soon as he can

A wise decision it seems, Paul V
Won´t be bothering scorers further this month after my 22:29.1 some 3 days ago - so plenty of time left to kick me out of boat II...

Re: September ctc - 6k unrestricted
Thanks folks. My back seems to be a lot better since last week's injection. Not quite 100%, but a definite improvement. I've been doing a number of short walks each day, but nothing too vigorous as I want to maximise my chances of a long term recovery.
Having said that, I'm very tempted to have another go at the CTC on Friday. I'm sure I could improve on 26:10.4 without putting too much strain on my back.
I'm going to London on Saturday to see the Chelsea - Man City game. A friend of mine is a season ticket holder. Should be a good game, even though I don't support either team.

Glad to hear your back is on the mend Paul.
Not been rowing quite as hard lately as I've been focusing more on crossfit/kettlebell training so I was pleased with this effort. Forgot how much "fun" an all out 6k was.
