Exactly! I found the third rep to be the toughest. Good luck with your next effort!

We're up to 31 entries now. This is a good time to put in an entry, leaving enough of the month left to redo in case of a blow up

After some experimentation, decided drag 137 was indeed correct, same as last time. 20' WU. Second rep felt better than the first. Tested legs with 90" to go in final rep, pleasantly surprised with amount of kick left. Looking forward to retests of 2k and shorter distances, but next up is test of 30'.

Yes, thanks a lot ladies!!!

Hope we can get two more to try the challenge to get the remaining 8 men onto the water as well!

I blew up my knees on Sunday when giving it another try after doing the minute for the IRL (same distance as Alan ;-) )
First 4min at a 1:44, second almost finished with a 1:44 as well when I had to give up. I really have to stop going all in on these sprints and rather go for a valid result without killing my knees or back.

Hello, a big Bravo to all finishers and of course a extra Bravo to all Lady-Finishers of this 4er cube event...i also had a go right now...and it was more going to the limit then the first one

this time no negative split...just a heavy quick start over the red line...2 a little more ease ones in the middle and going to the limit in the last one:

Made a slight improvement to my CTC score today. I rowed on the gym machine, with a PM3 monitor.

There is a discrepancy between the total metres rowed in each of the four minutes - they total 3749, but they have been rounded up on the monitor to 3751. Also the monitor says 2:07.9, but the CTC board says 2:08.0. Confused - too much for my brain to handle. I've entered the 3751 - if I need to change it let me know, and how to do that. Thanks.

Great to have two more boats floated, thanks indeed to Jane and Jill.

Really awesome to see you posting again Jane! Back in business for sure! The monitors are all too ready to round us down, and we take that, but if your PM3 monitor tells you a score, I think it’s appropriate to record it! (Perhaps each set recorded .x meters, which totalled enough to round it up by 2m?)! I’m sure someone will come along and advise exactly how these calculations are made.

Peter, very good to have improved by another 18m on a very consistent effort (one of those where it looks progressive and well controlled)! Are we going to see a response from Alan? Looks like you two have been duking it out!

Thanks for the encouragement. Of course, I had committed myself to a much more strenuous effort from my previous comments. I aimed to increase the rating from the off (a variance from mostly my present low-ish rate training) and with a target pace was 1:44.0 – 1:44.5. As usual, I set off ahead of target.

1170 1:42.5 30 170
1170 1:42.5 30 174
1166 1:42.9 31 177
1170 1:42.5 32 179 :? dizzy afterwards

I think actually it was paced just right… it was absolutely on the ragged edge for me presently as the heart rate indicates! I’m pretty sure I couldn’t extract more without a good chunk more training so I won’t be trying again. I didn’t sprint any in the third rep. Fourth rep pace was around 1:43.5 until the final minute, but managed a pretty painful sustained effort at a dizziness inducing heart rate. Moved our boat up two places … for now! As predicted, not a score which was going to trouble Erik’s superb effort.

Yes, you actually got me hanging in suspense there, Jon :!:  By the look of the four splits you didn´t overcook it, sure looks like a perfect execution (a hard one - wasn´t it??) :!: ^O^ ^O^

(Can´t remember my own attempt - seems like from another life time - sure couldn´t get anywhere near that now... :o  )

Thanks Jon! Yes Alan (and Dave and Steve (Wolfmiester)) and I are having a little competition each time we do the ctc. It's good fun and motivation!

Absolutely, all four reps within 0.4 seconds pace wise, I think you didn't leave anything behind!

I was pretty sure I could improve on my 4604/1:44.2 effort but for some reason (fear of pain  ) I had been finding excuses not to do it. Finally ran out of excuses and time.

Seriously considered dropping the rate/pace and just salvaging a decent workout countless times but decided to do my best to compartmentalize the pain, suffering, darkness and desperation I was feeling from about a minute in to each rep.

Somehow the 4 minutes rest was enough to erase some of the painful memories of the previous rep and I made it through. Improved to 4639/1:43.4.

Well done by all FS =D> Looking forward to next month...

Kind of sporadic. 2nd half of 2016 marred by lower back pain and busy schedule but hoping that 2017 will give me a clear run back to mid 2016 heights

Hope everything gets sorted out and you can get back on track soon.

Based on my experience...be patient, find a balanced regimen and try to "enjoy" the process. I learned a lot from Sam's plan(s) but also pushed myself way too hard, never was satisfied with a PB or even a regular training session and ended up miserable. Although rowing is still a big part of my routine I'm doing a lot of crossfit type stuff and feel so much better physically and mentally. I finally came to the conclusion that 2k training was going to cause me to quit rowing.

Well, it was kind of depressing for a while but the back is fine now so can get back to proper training. Still love the process and can probably beat current PB's with a good run of training. I'm definitely fitter at the start of 2017 than the start of 2016.

Okay - I finally did it....

1071 1:52.0 27 150
1040 1:55.4 29 151
1023 1:57.3 29 151
1021 1:57.6 29 153
4155

Sorry, but bumped someone (Trevor?) out of Boat V.

As you can see, kind of all over the map. Seemed easy at first, but boy, does the heart have a memory or what? Last rep just tried not to die on the rower. I have no idea how some of you guys get your heart rates so high!!

OK what insane team thought that up?!! Oh, oops...

Finished up a head cold this week. Relieved it did not follow the usual path to my lungs. =D>

Love the observation, Ron, that the heart has a memory. Felt true! My HR was up to 183 by the end of rep 4. Tried to hang close to 2:00 splits throughout but lack of fitness made it a struggle.

Dan thank you for your words. Do I say that every time you post? Sorry
