Madchester 2017...
After some correspondence across the pond it appears that the date of May 6th has become head and shoulders the top runner for Madchester 2017 as Ann & Peter Seidman have said they intend to be in the UK that week partaking of a distillery or two in Scotland (it seems to be the American thing to do whilst in the UK). They've not booked flights yet (I believe) but I am quite happy to commit to that weekend (6th/7th) with the event on the 6th if they are travelling that distance to visit.
For those who Free Spirits who have attended before, you are welcome again and to anyone who is thinking about it, feel free to ask questions if you have any queries that might be holding you back.
The early announcement is because the date has a good reason to be fixed early anyway and for anyone booking flights, the earlier, the cheaper

Love that headline, Dave
Hopefully the early announcement of the date will make perfect opportunities for many FSs to attend Maybe even from other "continents"...

Sounds great. I shall put it in my diary. If the date is definite, I'll start looking at flights.

Re: Madchester 2017...
There's no reason I can see to change the date. The weather will be what it will be
Jane is aware and the venue could be either place (they're 100 yards apart so that can be decided at the very last minute)

Sheena and me are looking forward to attend, although we may be a bit out of practice by then.
Hopefully we'll have our erg back out of storage, if so then we can bring it along.

Yes Madchester! Best vacation we've had in years!
We're waiting for dates on 2 just announced spring weddings... something in the air these last 2 weeks? Probably a long shot for jack and me, but you can bet we're thinking about it!

Re: Madchester 2017...
Awesome
If the weather plays nice we need Jack on BBQ duty - he did us proud this year =D>
I'll chuck this out there - if anyone has any suggestions for how to make things more interesting feel free to PM me. I thought suggestions here on the forum might be the way to go but I kinda like the thought that there might be a pleasant surprise or two when people arrive.

Thinking I might push the boat out and stay two nights this year. What are others doing?

Peter is coming over Friday evening and going back Sunday afternoon but other than that I can't advise yet.
So far we have attendees from Germany, Norway, Denmark, USA and Eire (assumed) now too

Thanks Plummy. I'm planning to come over Friday and head back Sunday. Haven't booked flights or hotel yet, but planning to do so shortly.

Haven't made any decisions yet but we'll probably come across on the Saturday morning ( with erg if required ) and stay over until Sunday morning.

I'd love to come again Dave. I could even provide an erg again ... with the seat the right way around this year!

Re: Madchester 2017...
You can maybe even row this year! It would be great if you can attend and compete (it would give Erik a good test)

Haha Dave! Cheers.
I was a bit slow not to have cracked that one myself!
I don't know about testing Erik, but it will be a good training goal

Re: Madchester 2017...
Airplane flights: booked
Normanhurst hotel: booked
Plummy's airport limousine: booked
We are coming!
Peter is prepared to man the bbq, and has plenty of practice cooking with one hand without spilling the drink in the other.
Ann should be able to row again; the arm she broke yesterday should be completely healed by then.

All great news - apart from the broken arm!! Was the glass of wine THAT heavy?
Hope it all heals quickly and well.

Re: Madchester 2017...
Unfortunately, my wife and I will not be making it this year.
We have a number of family commitments and we've opted to stay close to home. Fingers crossed for next year, though!
Cheers,
