Hi Tako I'd be happy to join an online IRL session. We have a time change this Sunday, and my sched is a bit odd, but often the 19:00-ish GenFits timeframe can work for me.

Those are also my favourite as it allows me to put at least one of the kids to bed before disappearing into my "Erg-cave" :-)
I guess you will jump an hour ahead, while GMT stays, correct?
Here we are until the end of the month (last weekend) 1 hour ahead of GMT. Then 2.
Would a 10k for the IRL at 19:00 GMT on Monday, Tuesday... work for you?

I was going to say yes, let's do Tuesday.

However I have managed to aggravate a lower back issue, so no 10k this week. Had the chiro work on it today, and she wants me back Thursday for more ultrasound. Meantime, ice is my friend. :(

Good luck with it!

Sorry to hear that!
Take good care of your back! Long car drives are a real challenge for the body.
Personally I prefer the Fysio over the Chiro, but that is a topic for a different forum.
Hope you get better soon!
I think I will have a rest day today and retry the IRL tomorrow or Thursday.

Take care with your back, Barbara!

As for my medical update, my GP and physio now believe I have a frozen shoulder. It could easily take a year (or longer) to fully recover.
My GP was okay for me to row gently, as long as I stopped if I noticed any aggravation.

Last month as a team we had 8 entries in the IRL, the minimum required to get a full score. So I thought I'd better get a score in now, even if it's slow. It was my first time on the rower this month. And slow it was: 10k in 44:41.1 (2:14.1/500m).

Sorry to hear about your back problems Barbara! Is ice still your friend? Or are you allowed to have back your old friend erg? :fswink:

Sorry to hear about your shoulder problem Roger! One year for full recovery sounds like an awful lot of time  Thank you for your contribution to the team under these circumstances! =D>

Thanks guys! I managed a second attempt today, in 44:14.7.
We still need (at least) three more entries.

Finally got around to doing this. My primary objective was to finish, but I was hoping I might get under 42 minutes (2:06 pace) if everything went smoothly. I realised early on that this was not something I could achieve without risking blowing up, so I settled around 2:08 pace and managed to pick it up a bit over the last kilometre to finish in 42:27.0 @ 2:07.35 pace.

This is just under 5 seconds slower pace than the CTC I did last week, so probably about as much as I could expect. Hopefully, if I start erging more regularly, I'll start to see some improvement.

Hey Tako,

Injuries all over (I think), but a very busy month without much rowing. I'll post a time on Thursday... but it won't be fast.

Cheers, :P

Hi Tako - not on the bench much longer. I've done a couple sessions on the water and one on the erg yesterday. I'm sorry to say I am not sure what a "fysio" means exactly -- for me I think that would either be an orthopedist, physical therapist or primary doctor? Anyhow you're right that's a question for a different thread. I'll find an opportune time to log a session in the next day or 2.

Rodger argh on the shoulder. Have heard of the condition, wow on the recovery time estimate.

Did my bit today to complete the IRL season. I think I would have had to go much harder at the beginning to challenge for a pb but happy with a fairly decent effort

I'm sorry, but I won't be posting a time this month (see the injuries thread).
Hopefully we still get 8 results on the board. It would be a shame to stumble at the last hurdle of this IRL season.

I aim to please!

Anyway, being a man of my word, I did the 500m challenge today. Five minutes warm up and then off I went. Classic positive split with 18.5 for the first 100m, slowing down by approximately 1 second for each subsequent 100m and averaging well over 1:40 pace for the second half. After 150m, I felt like HDing, but I figured I'd never live it down if I did, so I persevered and finished in 1:38.8.

Still very stuffed up, so breathing not great, but at least I got it done. Not sure how I feel about doing the CTC, but I might give it a go over the weekend if I can stop coughing for long enough.

Entered a v-e-r-y s-l-o-w 500m today.

I have been struggling with injuries for the last 6 months. The latest is a very sore lower back that arrived while sleeping about 5 weeks ago. Have no idea what the cause was, but it is very slow to heal. I am back to doing most of my strength exercises (except for leg presses and dead-lifts). Sitting is sometimes quite painful.

Sorry guys. Hope to do better next year.

Looks like we have 6 times entered so far for this month.

Cheers, :P

I entered mine probably just after you. Did a couple 500s as a warmup for my equally unimpressive CTC #-o But hey, whatever it takes to keep that chain rolling. I do appreciate these challenges for that reason.

Glad you managed to fit it in! Sorry about the back :(
