Re: September CTC: Tribesports Ten
Wasn't sure I'd get round to this month's CTC but managed to squeeze it in this morning. Theoretically thought that 2-3 seconds slower than 2k pace would be realistic which would suggest ~1:55 pace but I really didn't feel like an all out effort (probably something to do with fact that almost all my training over the last 4 weeks or so has been at 18-22 spm only!) so decided on a couple of seconds slower than that as being a decent effort without killing me!
Managed 2566m or 1:56.9 pace @ 27spm. May not have been an all out effort but I was very glad when it was over
Oarsome effort to everyone who's given this a go and there is still a few days left if you haven't yet!

Barbara hoping this gives you a nudge into the pain cave for a follow up effortCamiCrew wrote:Very enjoyable Sunday afternoon session on RowPro with the GLRC guys and Shirley G. Couple warmup pieces and then a first 10 min CTC marker. 2486 and a 2:00.6 split at a 28. Hung out at the entrance to the pain cave for this one. Suppose next time I'll need to plummet headlong into the darkness.

2nd try. Very pleased with this even though I did a 5k at about this pace last year. Working my way back in a more mindful manner.

Hello Mr. Mutant. And you then went out to weather.com and ordered up a few 600-degree days, didn't you? Given temps climbing above 90F before 9 am, and no air conditioning at my house, I couldn't even pull off a reply to your challenge until today. Finally a welcome breeze is kicking in...zootMutant wrote:Meanwhile, I'll be watching to see if Barbara slacks off... if so, I might be able to sneak past while she's looking the other way.
Awesome job, Amanda! Really excellent, and thank you for fitting it in. Can't touch that pacing of yours for now, if again Still easing back carefully after feeling over-done on an FM plan in July.Amanda wrote:Managed 2566m or 1:56.9 pace @ 27spm. Today my goal was to exceed the 2500 mark and dip below the 2:00 average. Done - may or may not be able to run it again by EOM.
Great job all!

I'm still recovering from the heat... a hard week at work... a lot of driving... poor food choices (er... can't think of any more excuses ), so I think you're safe for now.
Nicely done, squeaking the meter under 2:00!
Far, far better than 2799! Well done!Tako wrote:2801 ain't bad, right?!
And well done to Millie and Dan, too! =D>

Wow! That is one h*ll of a time, Tako. I have to confess I was hoping to sneak past you to get a seat in boat 3, but there's no way I could even get close to 2,800 meters.

Also thank you J-Dog, the cake was tasty!

Well done Jennifer and Millie for getting more boats floated and to everyone who managed to improve their rows =D>
I had hoped to improve my last attempt today but after a busy week I don't really feel up to it so a slow 30mins for me today
Great rowing Barbara for getting under the 2:00 pace

Re: September CTC: Tribesports Ten
Nothing like waiting until the last day. Been in maintenance mode the last two months but managed to surprise myself today. Would have been thrilled with a 2:10 pace. Managed a 2:07.6 which is better than my PB for a 2K (2:08.2).

Nice one Kirstin - of course you now need to get straight back on and bag a new PB for your 2K whilst you know you can!

I was
Still just making it the waters edge was an achievement of sorts. Been pain free for just over a week so I am hoping its healed now. Managed this 10 mins on Thursday and it was awful but no reaction from the elbow so hoping to get more back into it next week. Will manage a painfully slow 10k before the end of the month for the next ctc.

I am pleased to hear that your elbow has improved but don't go undoing all the good work.
Special thanks again to Jennifer and Brobdingnagian Brownie Points awarded to you all. =D>

Stan -- glad to see you're back. Hope the elbow is completely healed!
Peter -- based on this row how do you think I should pace a 2K SB attempt?
