Paul Victory wrote:- My second attempt at this today. Previous effort was 14:04.0, with rest intervals of 75/40 seconds. Today, I decided to go with straight 1 minute rests and was hoping to get under 14 minutes. Target pace was 1:46 for the 777s and 1:40 for the 223s.

It felt like a struggle at the start and I nearly HDed half way through interval 1. But I finished that and persuaded myself to do one interval at a time. When I had completed the third 777, I figured I was too far gone to bail out at that stage, so I kept plugging away.

Went better than expected and I finished in 13:54.0, 10'seconds faster than my previous effort. It doesn't change my position in FSII and it doesn't make any difference to our position in the CTC, but I'm very pleased with the improvement, particularly given how bad I was feeling at the start.

Splits were as follows:

777 / 2:45.2 / 1:46.3
223 / 0:44.4 / 1:39.5
777 / 2:45.7 / 1:46.6
223 / 0:44.1 / 1:38.8
777 / 2:43.9 / 1:45.4
223 / 0:44.3 / 1:39.3 - backed off a little to save something for the final 777
777 / 2:43.4 / 1:45.1
223 / 0:43.0 / 1:36.4

13:54.0 / 1:44.2 average
Very well done Paul =D> =D> ^O^ ^O^

Thanks Jon and Alan.

I've come to the conclusion that for interval sessions with short rests, if you don't feel like HDing in the first couple of intervals, you aren't going fast enough. It makes doing them a real mental struggle and it becomes very much mind over matter. In many ways, similar to doing a 2k TT. And we all know how horrible they can be.

And I say Bravo to all for there very good times !

This is my try after the lat-strain:

Had my 2nd attempt today, improved my time but rather frustratingly ended up less than 1/2 second outside boat 1! And it damn near killed me as well Image
On a positive note the split was just over 1/2 second faster than my recent 2k pb so probably got more to come there Image

Very strong session Felton. =D> =D> =D> It looks like a very tough workout - you really went for it over the first two long intervals. The last two 777s must have been really painful.

I actually HD'd for one stroke in the 3rd 777 but immediately persuaded myself to carry on. Would love to get in boat 1 so might have another go on Tuesday with slightly better pacing

Don't really like restricted rate pieces, but at least it's not more intervals!

Hello,

i had my 2nd go this afternoon, i am satisfied with the improvement, i guess recovered from injury. The last 777m i did actually lost some seconds, there were 170m left and experienced a energy blackout at Heartrate 177, so the pace fell down from 1:46 to 1:53.

So its Summertime, thanks to the ctc contest i stay motivated to erging, but less mtb...

I will go for the next one more easy, cause of rate restriction...not a 177 pulse

See you next time, thx
